Hopefully until June. I got in yesterday afternoon. This had to be the
smoothest trip in quite some time. No delays or hassels at airport
security, no flight delays, heck, not even any grumpy people!
Caught a cab home (I always use the same service); she stuck around while I
made sure my car would start. Cranked up on the first try even after
sitting for 3 months! (I love my Hyundai!) Of course it's filthy but it
was raining so it got a little rinse. Gotta wash it today!
Off I went to pick up Persia and Peaches. You do *not* want to know what it
cost to board them despite the fact I'd paid for the first month already.
I'd inquired about a discount since they were there so long; nope, sorry.
(Dang, even humans get discounts for staying in a hotel 7+ days!)
Peaches is so nonchalant about the whole thing I'll simply say she's fine.
Persia fussed a little on the drive home but I suspect she knew this was a
*good* car trip because she wasn't all that vocal about it. When we got
home she didn't even do her stomp around and yowl routine! She rubbed
against me, purring, let me snap her collar back on and give her scritches,
ate a little bit, then took a nap in the closet.
A couple of hours later she'd taken up her usual snuggle spot on the couch
with me. Then it was time for head-butts, blinky-eyes and a couple of
kitty-kisses :) When it was time for bed she came running in and purred me
to sleep. Awwww! It was soooo good to have my soft grey girl snuggled next
to me again!
BUT... how quickly I'd forgotten the early morning routine! I was treated
to her entire repertoire of "waking up Jill". First, the gentle tap on my
nose. I'll admit I was surprised at first, then I remembered, Oh! I
scritched her, hey sweetie, arrrr, it's not time yet. Dozed off. Like a
snooze alarm, 10 minutes later, >>tap<<. Opened my eyes and was rewarded
with a lick and a gentle bite on the chin. I looked at the clock, man it's
early! Gave her more scritches and dozed off again. She put up with that
for a few more minutes. Then she stuck her (cold!) nose in my ear and
purred LOUDLY. When I turned my head towards her she double-tapped my nose,
then nipped my chin again for good measure. Then she poked me in the side
with her paw and gave me a love-bite on my arm. OKAY, OKAY! I'm awake!
LOL
It's good to be home :)

Lovely story and it gave me a good chuckle. I'm so happy you two are back
into your routine already - even though you might not be. :~)

And it's so good to hear yoo're back with your babies again after the
prolonged
and taxing ordeal you've been through lately. Relax, catch up locally,
and know
we are relieved and happy for you to be back where you belong.

Actually, it depends upon the hotel, its location, and which seven days!
If they are hotels that cater to business travelers, they often offer
lower prices on weekends. If they are in an area noted for theater and
concerts, the reverse may be true. And of course, if they are in a mecca
for tourists, prices depend upon whether you are there during an "on" or
"off" season.

I'll bet! You were away for a long time.

Exactly the type of places you're least likely to find me ;) I'm pretty
sure even in tourist towns someone staying 3 months (not in a time-share)
would get a small break on the nightly rate :)

IMHO, as one born and raised in Turista Land, so to speak, that place
you
went to to take care of business sounds more like one of the little
secular,
sleepy non-cities in FL, and *not* like either a "tourist mecca* or
hot
destination for vacations (like, yawn..) and my home state is full of
these.
No breaks on hotel/motel rates, not likely to be a big choice to stay
at, either.
Nothing much to do. Bet Memphis seems like Fun City these days...
