With almost every day that goes by, I marvel at the turnaound in Stinky.
He's everywhere!  He's walking all over the tables and countertops.  He's
digging the breeze on the windowsills.  He's sticking his nose in my coffee
cup, and posing in front of my computer screen.  He's marching up and down
the piano keyboard when I try to play, and does a little scat singing along.
He's going into my mom's room to read her the riot act.  He is, of course,
putting Dante "ON NOTICE," like Stephen Colbert. ;)   Bast bless that little
bag of fluid.  My cat is back.

Thank you.  I almost forgot the nicest thing-- he's started herding me to
bed again.  For most of his life,  if I was watching TV around 11 PM, Stinky
would come find me, and start meowing at me, and making encouraging little
movements toward the door. ;)  Well, he's doing it again.  Then when I'm
getting ready for bed-- opening the window, turning the bed down-- he hops
on the bed, and lies down on his back, airing out his tummy in the breeze.
;)

Aww! Frank used to fetch me to bed, too, if I stayed up too late in his
opinion.

Awwwww, bless his little heart.  Mosey comes in at 8 am sharp and wakes me
up to feed him.  Then I usually go back to sleep till around 11, and he
helps DH make my morning latte <G>.
Mosey would just love to meet Stinky, as I've told him alot about him <G>

YAY!! I'm so glad to hear it. Fluids certainly do work miracles. I got
religion about it after I saw what it did for my (now RB) cat. It's so
heartening to see them perk up after the toxins are washed out of their
system.

Since you are seeing behaviors you haven't seen in quite a while, I
wonder if he was feeling just a little funky for some time before you
realized he needed to see the vet? You know, not really sick, just a
little less perky than usual. And since he's not so young anymore, why
would you suspect anything more than the normal slowing down due to
aging?

And now he's back to strutting around like he's never had a kidney
problem in his life. That must be wonderful to see.

Finally, thank and bless you all for your purrs and your interest in Stinky.
I am so touched and moved by it, and grateful for it.  Stinky is grateful,
but not surprised-- he is just my little karmic love machine. ;)  He sends
you all purrs and headbutts.

What wonderful news to read!  Congratulations for having the guts and the
resolution to give him the fluids that makes him feel so much better!  Purrs
that this continues for many, many years.

That such great news for Stinky.  Might I enquire how much it costs to have
him on fluids?  It just cost me around 600 dollars to have KFC on fluids for
*two days.*

My goodness, Christina-- it's a *lot* cheaper to do it yourself.  A box of
twelve 1-liter bags of fluids costs us $36 US.   That would keep us in
fluids for two months.

Blimey, that's less than 20 pounds. Although I never could have done it
anyway.

It may even be illegal here, there are lots of different laws on the
treatment of animals. I always think it's a little odd that the best surgeon
in the land isn't allowed to operate on an animal, but anyone, with
permission, can operate on a human.

Really?
Well, I do know that my vets (who are really excellent) have never suggested
home-administered subq for KFC.  Maybe it "is" illegal here.
I have to update my vet about how Kitty is going along.  He told me advise
the next day but I didn't - I was too busy watching whether she was eating
and preparing things she might like.
I'll phone him on Monday.  I will ask him about subq (not that I could ever
do it on Kitty, but if it's legal here.)
Vets have a stranglehold here.  I've paid less for surgery on my dogs than
what it cost for KFC to go into hospital and be on fluids for two days.
Don't get me wrong.  I do not begrudge paying any money she cost.

What concerns me is since Pet Insurance for veterinary bills, they are now
sky high.  Which they never were.

I've noticed this as well...obviously some vets push their price up a
bit because people who have insurance don't care, same thing happens
anywhere something can be insured but then it even seems to affect
things insurance wouldn't cover. I was in a local vet yesterday,
getting Hills and they charge almost 60 pounds for a spay more if the
queen is on heat or pregnant, my vet charged me 37.10 per cat when the
Fabulous Furballs went and that's not that long ago.
