Kim, Eric and the Chigger Ranch Crew here.....just wanted to let y'all
know we're ok.  Shaken but ok.  We're in Parker county Texas which had
tornado warnings an hour or so ago.  No house damage but LOTS of hail...
to the tune of a 3' high drift in the corner between the porch and
library.  We hunkered down with the cats singing to us in their carriers
and everyone, including us, covered by comforters.  The only saving
grace was that when the hail started hosing down, it was so loud we
couldn't hear the cats complaining ;)

Is everyone else in the area ok?

It's windy, but dry in Central Texas. We're supposed to get some
overnight storms.

Everything is fine here, so far, but a major storm system is on the way.  I
am in East Texas.  It was actually a very pleasant day with a gentle breeze
that turned into trees whipping around -- but we are now in the "watch"
area.  Holly and Duffy are calm and content.

Comforting purrs from MileHigh, which has been having wierd weather
too,
but not hail. Guess hail is an improvement over tornados - glad you
are all
safe in there, including your singing cats...I bet they were *really*
serenading you....our cats always quieted down immediately when a
'cane
had passed over our area in FL....they do sense it. I never saw hail
the size
of what goes on out here in FL.

Stormed like crazy! With another storm wave headed in... Hail the size of
shooter marbles, LOTS of rain and high winds...so far just lots a few tree
limbs broken...nothing like a couple weeks ago......We're way North of
Dallas proper.... :-) Liz

Having seen a couple of small funnel clouds.. as much as I loved watching
them, I was very glad they didn't touch down.

And this one was less than five miles from me

No. What would make you think that?

See

http://www.torro.org.uk/TORRO/index.php

Here in the UK we average 30 a year, and given our much smaller land mass
area than in the States, we the highest frequency of reported tornadoes per
unit area in the world. Recognised by none other than Dr Fujita...
originator of the Fujita Scale (F1, F2, F3 and so on)

My husband's cousin managed to get himself killed in one in the late 70's.
Ish. I can't remember the date.
He was on a bus.  It got struck by a tornado - or a whirlwind, I don't know
the difference.  It killed him, anyway.

Lots of downed tree branches, street flooding, and the commute from
nightmares going on here.

Hi,
Good to hear you are all O.K.  We had lots of wind last night here on
the S.E. Gulf Coast, but this afternoon is beautiful.
