Miss Emily has decided that my car is a Good Thing - if I get in it, then
she should too.
This morning she did her usual 'pet me love me' routine. I unlock the car,
open the door, and she climbs right in. When I grab her, she digs her claws
into the carpet and huddles down on the floorboard.
I get her out of the car, put her down, and she climbs back in.
Okay. I just put my stuff in so I have hands free, lift her out again, and
cuddle her while I shut the door.
She gives me a sad "but I want to go with you" meow. I obviously have a
roadcat here, and need to convince the office that we need a shopcat (big
grin).

Perhaps you could leave a few minutes early and offer her a ride around
the block?

We used to have to do that for our dog. She liked to ride in the van.
There were times when we just couldn't take but, so long as she went around
the block, she was happy to go back in the house.

I take Kayla with me a lot, just because she wants to go in the car. The
cats worry us because they are so nosey. They are always checking out
visitors cars and trucks on our street. I don't want to encourage them to
go for rides.
The neighbors across the street are cute. They have a huge pair of
Rotweillers that get to go for a ride in the car every evening.
We are going to have a dog park close by in a few months. I hope they will
be able to go there. Their owners aren't well enough to actually walk them,
but the dogs are well behaved and at the park they could sit and watch them
run around.

When I was just out of college we had a cat named Ffup (_I_ didn't
name her) who did that when Linda and I would be leaving for the day.
The one time we drove off with her in the car (because I was going to
be coming right back home) she started a terrible fuss after we had
gone a few blocks. We had to take her home. She hadn't wanted to GO
anywhere. She just wanted to sit in the nice seat with mom and dad.

My Rita is so sociable that my friend keeps telling me that I should
bring her to work with me.
She'd love the new people, for sure, especially since they are mostly
guys. I have been
thinking about leash training her, but she doesn't go outside at all.
