Freakin' Walgreens pissed me off

Matthew - 02 Apr 2008 19:13 GMT I go to pick up my photo order today since Granby has been asking for them. Well guess what they destroyed 3 rolls of film. Than when I questioned them how 3 rolls were destroyed they blamed me for it. I said how in the hell could I ruin the film when it was one of you that put it thru the film processor. I pulled the film out of the photo slip case they gave me and said look at the damage to the beginning of the film this is your fault not mine. They said well the film was old I said the expiration date is 5/2011 and it was from different brands of disposable camera so don't tell me manufacturer defect. Than the little minimum wage payley said well you probably exposed it when you when thru the x-ray machine at the airport. I said get your manager and for your information I WENT ON A CRUISE AND DROVE THERE I carried my film thru customs.
The manager comes out I tell him what happened he asked the clerk she gave her story. They guy comes back and says well the film is old what do you expect. I said I expect someone to have some sense about them when they work if there was a problem admit to it. I guess this store doesn't follow that trend. The manager just stood there with a stupid look on his face. I said I am not going to pay for these either. He signed off . I told him you lost a customer and this customer will complain to the top. Several other people were there and checked there photos guess what the idiot messed theirs up also. I called the main office and got a lady who did apologize the first one that was offered. She said I am sending out free coupons for processing at that store. I said thank you but I am never going back to them if the coupons are good some where else than maybe but never back to that store. They destroyed 2 rolls that had the ship lay out on them and pictures of Freeport and Nassau. The last had some pictures of the stingrays and other misc. pictures. I am so pissed off right now. Next time I am bringing my a digital camera and pay for using the internet and email the pictures back to several accounts to prevent this from happening or just pay the extra price on the ship it would have been worth it to pay triple price
RANT OVER
Now to try and go thru what I can salvage
EvelynVogtGamble(Divamanque) - 02 Apr 2008 19:30 GMT My sympathy, Matthew - but why would ANYONE use Walgreen's instead of a regular camera shop? (And why use film at all, if you have a digital camera?)

But after Matthew's experience I'll have to rethink that.

Mathew, I'm so sorry you lost the pictures. And that they were such a#@h%#s about it to boot.
I had some amazing pictures ruined several years ago, from a hot air balloon trip. Something special and that could not be duplicated. Just because some lazy idiot used dirty chemicals to develop the film.
(And that was at a 'camera shop')
But unless you have a very good camera and a very steady hand, digital doesn't match up to film in quality. It is cool in all the gee whiz options if you can figure them out.

Because most small/midsized towns don't have a "camera shop". It's either Walgreen's, Walmart, or send them away and wait 10 days and risk them getting lost in the mail.

Ah. Sorry - I've never lived anywhere but in a fair-sized city with a nearby-shopping area that always included a couple of camera shops. I forget that's not always the case for everyone. Also, perhaps I'm not quite so fussy about my photos as some of you, since I find digital a boon to mankind - especially knowing immediately if I need to re-take a photo. (My "Print Shop" software allows me to tweak most photos - adjust brightness, focus, color, and crop as desired - and an ink-jet color printer provides good enough prints so I seldom even THINK about having them processed, anymore.) But of course, I've never aspired to anything approaching "professional" photos, either.

Wal-Mart is 7 to 10 day here same for bj's or Sam's we have a cvs pharmacy that bought out Eckerd's but they are worse than Walgreen's
Exactly and I was not about to take a 400 dollar camera to go swim with the dolphins in a third world country
The nearest camera shop is exactly 5.5 hour drive away in Miami, Florida there is no camera shops that process film on the spot anywhere except on Disney property and their rates are about 99 a print for a 4*6
Thanks everyone for the sympathy

I never had any problem with that 35mm camera before that, nor after that. Of course they blamed the camera/ film, but it was them. Never again took anything there.

That SO totally sucks!! I'm just glad we have a digital camera. I hate Walgreens anyway.. but they did have some good bargains on low wattage lightbulbs that we bought and I bought a couple of small blankets there and DH got some tee shirts they had on sale, but never took any film there. I won't shop there any more. Grrrrrrr and hissspits on them for ruining your film :/ Hug Kyla

Granby - 02 Apr 2008 21:23 GMT Awwwwwwhhh the nerve. I can believe it but that is the last time the kids will take theirs to Walgreen's. They had one messed up and were told they had to pay for it anyway because it went through the processor. Well, my Son disagreed and won but, it was pictures that can't be replaced of my Scooter Dog. This just finishes it for me.
Sorry some people have to use equipment for witch they are not qualified to run. This really pisses me off, and, to think of all the wasted nagging. I probably should apologize for the Matthew but, can't make myself do it!! Memories are so precious and to have an idiot mess them up it ....... sh@@@y.

Even the cheapest ones now are pretty good. thanks I have one Adrian a very good one but I was not going to take it into ocean water around a bunch of playful dolphins and the case to make it water proof was about 200 dollars. More in likely before we all get together I will save up and get another good one that can be used under water

However, my suggestion if you prefer film is to take only one roll at a time in for processing (Walgreens or anywhere else). Problems like this seem to be rather frequent. My suggestion would make it less convenient but would also reduce the likelihood of losing all your pictures. In fact, I always take several CF disks with me because I don't even want to have all of my images on one CF -- one could go bad, could get lost, etc. What a shame, though. That would be heartbreaking to lose all of your vacation pics like that.

We used to take our film to Kmart to get developed. Never had a problem, but then again, we never had all that many pictures to get excited about. When we were on a military post, we used their processing center. Now we just run them through the computer However, I can sympathize with you on your film problems. You see, I'm married to the creator of the world's most boring video. I refuse to turn him loose on the video camera, though I did hand him the digital and ask him to take pictures of the aquarium that we went to. Yup, the world's most boring aquarium pictures. I had handed Amanda the video camera and told her to get lots of film of the family. Apparently she thought we were sharks, a huge moray eel, jelly fish, crabs having sex (actually the most interesting part of the video) and cannon on a hill. At the very end she caught Rob, Jim, and Mike sitting on an cannon emplacement talking about what it must have been like at the battle of Fort Fisher. She apologized for getting something that boring. I told her that was what I was really interested in getting. Next time I hand her the digital (she takes really awesome digital pictures) and I figure out how to use the video camera.
Pam S. bummed that Mathew won't get to share those pictures with us.
