Dark brown tooth...

Felix was shaking his head a lot last night, so I put some drops in his bad
ears.  Within an hour, he settles down after the drops...  but not last
night. So I did my usual poking and prodding when one of my furkids acts
funny.  With a lot of fuss, I finally got a look at his back teeth.  The
upper right back tooth is brown... dark brown.  And his breath is a little
more than funky.  It's odd tho' b/c I know this didn't happen over night and
Felix LOVES to cuddle when I'm in bed.  He likes to lay on my pillow with
his head next to mine.  I would think that his breath would've been noticed
before last night!!

Anyway..  my vet is out of town, but his replacement can see Felix on
Monday, and if (probably so) the tooth has to be removed, my vet will be
back by then for it.  The good news is if Felix has the tooth removed, I
will have a deep ear cleaning done while he's under the anesthesia.  His
ears need all the help they can get!!

Purrrrr request for my little Tuxedo man!!

The tooth may well be a _cause_ or at least an aggravator for the ear
problem. So losing the tooth and getting that deep ear cleaning may
lead to his improvement all around.

Yeah it's a possibilty, but most definitely the tooth will need to
come out.

a discolored tooth usually means the pulp inside the tooth has
degraded.

And lemme know if when the tooth comes out if the ear get better.

Purrs for you,

Krys

I've posted several times about Felix's ears.  He has non-cancerous tumors
growing in both ears...  the left is much worse than the right.  He had over
$3,000.00 worth of surgery in the left ear removing the tumors, but they
grew back within months.

I only wish they would get better when/if the tooth is removed!!
Unfortunately, he is slowly going deaf.

Ah I'm so sorry, I had forgotten about the real issue with the
ears.....Well at least they are non-cancerous.

And deaf cats are just as sweet and cuddly.

Of course their fellow house cats can be having an all out brawl
nearby and he'd be just fast asleep.......

Recently we had a cat come in like that. He had gotten a bite wound on
his flank because his buddies got into a fight and literally landed ON
him.  Poor guy was asleep one second and the next had two more right
on TOP of him.

Keep us posted about the tooth.

The hearing cat at my sons house is hissing and trying to get in the room
where Mamma cat is.  The deaf cat Mr. Lewi has his paws on the french doors
and is meowing at her.  She isn't afraid of him.  She comes and sits close
to the glass and he sits and they talk.  She may be calling him names
because he is a male but it is cute anyway!!!

Poor little guy.  But he will feel better when it is over and done with.

Amazing sometimes what they can hide from us.

Purrs on the way.  They usually bounce back well from this.

Purrs for an *uneventful* tooth removal. And I agree with Kristi who
thought it was possible that having the tooth out might help his ears.
The two are closely connected, and if there's an infection in the
tooth, it could spread to the ear.

In any case, hope he's feeling better soon!
