OK, after I got all the info on costs I called 5 different credit cards and
found one with an available balance (not much, but enough to cover the
initial vetting - gawd know how we'll pay the extra balance, but we can
worry about that later).

DH went from, 'we're not putting out any money on another cat' to 'we
couldn't afford the food' to 'would you want to keep him inside' to 'how are
you going to get him inside' to 'what if he goes nuts being locked in the
house' to 'he looks really attached to his balls' to 'you can take him in by
yourself, I don't need to be there.'

My answers were, 'but he's so sweet he even trusts you to pick him up' to
'we could find a cheaper food with the same ingredients, it doesn't have to
be Fancy Feast' to 'well yes I do, he'd be safer inside' to 'we'll lock the
other cats in a room and lure him in with canned food - you know he'll do
anything for that' to 'if worse comes to worst we can put him back in the
back yard and at least he'll have been vetted and neutered so he'd be better
off than he is now' to 'you're anthropomorphizing' to 'OK, I guess I could
handle doing this on my own.'

So, for the moment at least, we have a qualified "go".

Oh, and I did get a video of his little pussy-footing that someone remarked
on when seeing his pictures:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4cMU_pcNDc

LOL!  We call this "happy feet", as our guys do it when they are
extremely happy. He looks like a beautiful boy, and I would LOVE another
red tabby, but probably won't be able to have one for a few more years. :(

Right now, my entertainment is a little boy cat named Wu. He is 8 weeks
old, and right now is beating on a piece of fake fur we got for him to
cuddle with in his crate. He is a bit odd colored - he was pure black
when he was tiny, but in the last 2 weeks or so his body fur has
lightened to a smoky gray, and he has black points - feet, tail and
black mask. Sort of a reverse siamese. He has lots of personality!

You've got another one!  I don't think we've heard from you for a while,
congratulations!

Did you get to the bottom of the illness that took your other cats?

BTW, my Mingus went through the same sort of colour change as Wu
(his body went from black to coffee brown, leaving black points).
But he wasn't ever a healthy cat, and I figured the loss of pigment
on his body was a nutritional deficiency.  Getting him to eat a
wider range of foods and a few nutritional supplements brought him
back to being a normal black-and-white tuxedo cat again.

No, he's not polydactyl - but because he was literally skin and bones when
he got here, parts of his body (like his paws) look big on him.  When he
first came you could see the outline of almost every single bone in his poor
little body.  I think after more than just a week of beefing him up he my
turn out to be a really big boy.  We're figuring he was dropped off as a 2 -
3 month old and barely managed to survive to his current age (he looks 5 - 6
months old to us).

I believe they might be. It seems like there are an awful lot of toes
there... :)

Or, like puppies, he's still got to grow into them paws.

But in all actuality, I think that was a form on kneading!  Mimi does it
when she's laying on her back, paws in the air... and
verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry slooooooooowly.....  so cute!

Yep, and it's those ornaments that we want to divest him of!  Ben just
blanches when it's mentioned.  ;>

Well Ben can settle the paternity suits and find families for the bitties
that Garvin fathers.  Or he can get the problem fixed.  Not a problem, is
it?

Pam S. who has to get Meow Meow taken care of too.

Yep, I did the math for him and it made him blanch even more!

Smokey still thinks he can, erm, "fill all the ladies full of
kittens."

He doesn't believe he was neutered.  He spent the night at the vets,
had a really long nap, ate the vet's food (yes, he was scarfing right
after waking up!) and came home.  It was a sleepover.  Nothing more.

LOL!  That would certainly give my girls something to think about.  Da Boyz
were neutered at 10 weeks by the rescue so they have no idea they're missing
anything!

Uh-oh, sounds like *someone* is over-identifying with his pet. :)

Yesterday I was a little surprised when Charlie told me the flame point
Siamese that is trying to move into our garage was male.  Not like Charlie
to pay all that much attention.  He knows the tri-color is usually a girl
rule, but other than that, most cats don't advertise all that much.

But tonight when I got home and got a glimpse of flame leaving, I'd say he
needs major surgery.  ASAP.

He has to have a home somewhere.  Doesn't look like he's ever missed a meal.

When I raised the issue of neutering Speedy Joe, Dave crossed his legs
and said "No-one is doing that to me so no-one is doing it to my cat"

I just pointed out if that was the case then he could cleam unneutered
tom cat pee up because I wasn't
