CatNipped - 01 Apr 2008 00:30 GMT He's filled out quite a bit in the week he's been here. When he first came his little tummy was just about touching his backbone.

He reminds me of "Double Pumpkin" who also visits the outside feeder here.

He's about twice the size of Amanda's boyfriend's cat, Pumpkin, hence the name.

He's huffed about "getting rid of him" but is he also huffed about the extra $$ to have him vetted and neutered, not to mention fed? I know a lot of people say "What's one more?" Well, we all know one more can add up to a fortune if there are medical problems!
I hope for a good outcome either way.

I know, even if we can swing the $128 for the initial vet fees we do have to keep feeding him and vetting him for the rest of his life. I'm still holding out for another good home for him - I'll be putting pictures up in the vet's office and elsewhere, but with kitten season here I'm not going to bet the farm on it.

[quoted text clipped - 36 lines] > > CatNipped It irks me, always has. Sure, kittens are cute as all get-out. But they *do* grow up to be cats. (I think some people believe they'll just sort of freeze that way. LOL) Even a young adult cat still acts like a hoolikitten. In fact, we have a lot of older cats here who still act like hoolikittens! So why the insistence (by some people) it *must* be a kitten? (It's a rhetorical question.)

I got Rusty when he was 1 year old. Kittens are too active for me. Besides, the purrsonality is pretty much set on an adult cat.
I am glad I only have one cat though. Yesterday I took Rusty for his shots and annual check-up. Ended up paying several hundred dolllars for geriatric blood test, urinary test, fecal test and prescription food, as well as the shots and exam. It will be worse if they find something wrong.

When asked to choose a restaurant, he'll haw and hem and then I'll get tired and pick one and inevitably it will be the one place he didn't want to go to. Then he wonders why I don't ask for his opinion when choosing places to go or things to do.

Granby - 02 Apr 2008 06:42 GMT Being single isn't all bad. I get to sleep in the middle of the bed, eat when I am hungry, even in the middle of the night and don't have to watch non stop football.Of course, the cats play a part in this. They sleep on both sides so getting up to go to the bathroom can be tricky. Eating when they want to join you can be a task. The few times I watch TV, O. T. chases whatever in moving on the screen.

What a long boy!
When we got Nox we wanted a young "teen" cat, not a kitten, because as first time pet owners we wanted something not 100% dependent on us every second of every day, but we wanted someone young who would be with us a long time.
We didn't get any age choice with Smokey. He came to us an adult, we think only 2, but we don't know.
We didn't get any age choice with Kumani and Tyche either, and I recommend 3 week old nursing kittens to...well, nobody, if you've got a mom cat, and if you don't have a mom cat, then I recommend them to people with no more pressing commitments on their time 24/7 (like "jobs", "children", etc) and who are prepared to have them sleeping on their chest and nursing their ears for the rest of the kittens' life spans!
Good luck with Garvin. Purrs he finds a forever home.

I've rescued a couple in my lifetime, and there's nothing more adorable!!
Nursing baby kittens myself, if there's no mom cat around, would be a different story. I hear it's very rewarding, if you have the time, and *if* you don't lose any. My sister has done this a few times, and said it was exhausting, but she'd do it again.

I'm crazy about puppies and kittens, especially bitties. And especially if they have a decent mom. But never again.

I don't think he would mind another cat - he is very laid back about our cats who are jumping up and down on the other side of the door.

He's gorgeous!! What a pretty face. And what's that cute thing he's doing with his front paw? I can't tell whether those are two different paws in two different pictures (ie, in the first pic, it's his right paw, but in pic #7, it's the left). But sometimes pictures get reversed. I hope he doesn't have a sore paw.
And it sure looks like he's a polydactyl.
Waah, I want him! I haven't had an orange cat since high school. (But no, I can't take on another kitty, I'm so sorry!)
He looks so happy. And LOL, I saw your other post where Ben's making noises about keeping him. Are you going to become a 3-orange-cat home? That is, in addition to the 3 non-orange cats? :)

He does that all the time with both paws as he walks - kind of like a Clydesdale horse prancing. He takes a step with his right foot and curls up his left then takes a step with his left foot and curls up his right. It's absolutely adorable! I think he is a very, very young cat - he has very kittenish behavior and as far as I can see he doesn't spray and hasn't been in any fights yet.
