You may recall that I child-proffed my bathroom cabinets to keep CJ from
getting through them into the closet where I store the spare catfood bags.

Well, he seems to have give up even trying to get in the bathroom cabinets
... now he has found he can get into some of the upper kitchen cabinets.
Not good.

I was sitting at the kitchen table drinking a glass of iced tea this
afternoon when I heard muffled thumping.  I turned around in time to see
CJ stick his head out of the cabinet over the clothes dryer, then jump
down.

I quickly fabricated and installed a form of turn button - really more of
a turn bar - on both cabinets at that end of the kitchen.  I'll have to do
the others later.  I cut a short piece of 2x2 as the base and cut a piece
of 3/4 inch square molding as the bar, drilled and mounted everything,
then took it apart to sand down the base until I got a tight fit.  I'm
pretty sure he can't reach the locking bar, so he should stay out of those
cabinets.

I wonder what he will do next.

This is starting to remind me of my parents campaign to keep the squirrels
out of their bird feeders.  After many years and lots of money spent of
squirrel proof feeders, they finally succeeded.  Only to start feeding the
squirrels too.

It does seem to be escalating.

I had a round with the possums and coons - they were coming in the cat
flap and eating the cat food - I totally won that one: a bit of research,
a bit of thinking, a bit of enginering, and a bit of construction work,
and no more coons or possums coming through the cat flap.

I kept the squirrels out of the bird feeder by adding a LOT of cayenne
pepper to the food.  Passed through the birds with no harm done but the
squirrels weren't so happy.

No, not trick him - more almong the lines of defeating him with
overwhelming force and technology that can't be overcome without opposable
thumbs and/or larger size.

BTW, he is currently in my lap, being the perfect patient lap cat (he's
waiting for me to quit typing so I can rub his belly).
