Didn't see the losers original post; he's in my killfile and I'd like to see
him stay there.
This recipe is another blast from the 1980's but it has carried on well
through the years ;)
Bound to confuse Yowie so here's an image of the bread:
http://tinyurl.com/346zkc
Party Pizzas on Rye
1 lb. ground (minced) beef
1 lb. mild ground pork sausage
1 lb. shredded cheddar cheese (the woman who gave me this
recipe used crumbled bleu cheese; it was overwhelming!)
1 tsp. dried basil
1 tsp. dried oregano
1/4 tsp. garlic powder (not garlic salt)
2 Tbs. dried parsley flakes
1-1/2 loaves party rye bread
Brown beef & sausage together, stirring to break up. Drain well. Add
cheese and stir until melted and mixed through. Add remaining ingredients
(except rye slices). Spoon mixture onto rye slices (about 1 Tbs. per
slice). Place on large cookie sheets and freeze. When ready to serve,
place frozen appetizers under broiler for 5-7 minutes until golden brown.
Makes a bunch!
Very hand to keep on hand for unexpected guests, or to take to a party if
you will have access to an oven for just a few minutes.

I'd just use a french loaf. Its not rye, but its the same shape and somwhat
similar. It makes yummy grilled cheese & tomato open sandwhiches, so can't
be too bad for pizza.
(we don't have 'party rye' loaves here either, and yes it would have
confused me had you not sent a pic, so thank you)

Thanks Helen...You tell im <G>
Now, I'm gonna post my recipe for a really nice warm- you-up
Cream of Veggie soup
Be warned, I don't use measurements, and I don't peel 'most'
of my veggies.
Put a big/medium pot of water on the stove,
fill it half way with water and bring ro a rolling boil (medium high)
Take 3 or 4 big potatoes, scrub them, cut into semi-small pieces.
Leaving the skin on..the skin is good for you.
Dump them in the water when it boils.
be careful you don't burn yourself.
Take 2 stalks of celery, wash them, and slice them thin and
dump them into the, water, leaves and all.
Take a fresh clove of garlic, peel it, chop it up into tiny pieces and add
it.
Garlic salt will work too.
Stir
Add salt (I never add salt to anything) pepper to taste
Take 2 carrots, wash them off, slice them, and dump them
in the boiling water.
(I never peel my carrots either)
Now add a half an onion, which has been peeled, and diced.
Add a pinch of cinnamon and ginger.
stir
(I use fresh ginger, finely chopped if I have any)
Add a dash of dillweed
Add a dash of basil ( love 'fresh' basil and use it when I have it)
Let boil, for 10 minutes, uncovered, or until the veggies are tender.
stir
.(Towie don't look at the next ingrediant)
Turn the heat down to meduim low when the veggies are tender
Take some asparagus, wash it, and slice it and add it.
cook for another five minutes,
stir
Now turn the heat off and let it stop boiling before adding the milk
Add about 1 cup of 1% milk, which will curdle if it boils
Add about 1/2 cube of margarine
stir frequently
Add a couple of handsfull of frozen mixed veggies,
peas beans or whatever and let them stand for about a minute.
Now, to thicken it...here's the kicker
start with about 1/.2-3.4 cup of 'instant mashed potatoes'
(I use Potato Buds) and
stir them in till you get the desired thickness.
You can always add more milk if you get it too thick.
I like mine fairly thick, so I know how to fitz with it.
Stir in some sour cream (1/2 a small carton)
let it sit covered for about 5 minutes.
take the cover off, smell the aroma, taste it and
see what else you think you want to add and do so.
If you have any ham, you can add that in there as well.
Using a ladle, put the yummy soup in bowls,
top with a dollop of sour cream and chopped green onions for 'presentation'
Serve with a nice green salad and you have a wonderful meal. ;]
For leftovers, you can add in a can of clams, juice and all
and have a yummy clam chowder:)
I used to serve this on Thursdays at a little espresso/lunch place
I used to own back in 1986, and people loved it:)
I turned the 'leftovers' into the clam chowder on Fridays.
It's a major comfort food...it 'really' is
Enjoy
