I came across this site which could be of interest to any of you who
must feed one cat separately, now or some day. Looks simple enough to make.

What a brilliant idea. When they trial their catfood in France with
their "lab-cats", Royal Canin have exactly the same set up in their
cat rooms, with each different cat having an individual cat-box with
electronic cat flap so that they can monitor individual food intake,
palatability, water intake etc.
I read a huge article on their cattery set-up in one of the Cat
Magazines. Apparently Royal Canin have roughly 15-20 cats of different
breeds living in a large open cattery/cat room, with access to
sunlight, fresh air and beds, toys and pettins, with their own
individual caretakers, etc. It's completely non-invasive testing and
the cats end up being adopted out to employees if they are no longer
needed for the trials.
The journalist commented on how well adjusted, healthy and friendly
all the cats seemed.

While interesting (and keeps the dog out of the cat food), it is not
feasable in our house. Can you imagine having 12 of those things in our
(smallish) house? There wouldn't be room for us, the cats, the dog, nor
the rest of our furniture!

12 cats are too many -- unless you're a crazy old lady who likes the
smell of cat sh.t. Perhaps you should see a shrink.

I guess in order for this to work, the cat in question has to wear an
electronic collar that unlocks the cat flap?
The kitty in those pictures is really cute!
