Australia doesn't have a Thanksgiving day, which is a shame, because out of
all the holidays of the year, I think that a holiday based on simple
gratitude without any overtone of religion or politics is a good one.

So happy Thanksgiving to those all those out there that do celebrate it, but
since I won't be doing this over any huge sumptious feast, I'd like to do it
here instead...

This year, I am thankful for:

My healthy and happy son,
A loving husband
Family that loves me
Another year with Shmogg, my muse
Fluffy for being forever happy and easy going
Incredible friends, both face to face and on-line (The friendships here
aren't "Cyber")
My fat - Ok, I wish it wasn't there, but that layer of blubber reminds me
that I have food to *excess*, which is something to be truly thankful for
A well paying and stimulating job with a really understanding boss
A more than comfortable home
Still being healthy enough to do things I want to do
Living in a free and beautiful country
Having enough money and time to be able to help other people

Thats all I can think of at the moment, feel free to add your own

You have truly captured the essence of what Thanksgiving is, Yowie!

When I was young and we had the paternal side of the family for
Thanksgiving Dinner, we all would tell what we were thankful for before
starting to eat.   Unfortunately they all died relatively young.  After
that, dinners seemed to lack the real "flavor" of Thanksgiving.

Smokey is thankful for:
Food. Cuz not having any makes your tummy hurt.
The Couch.  Cuz the ground is hard and wet and cold.
The Kitty Luv.  Cuz life is better when someone luvs u.

Tyche is thankful for:
MomDad and Mom
Her SISTER!
Being Licked by Nox

Kumani is thankful for:
Getting over a serious illness
Being luckier than many other abandoned kittens
Furry Mousies

Nocturne is thankful for:
Being a superior species
A magnificent bed to rule with iron claws
Kittens to distract Smokey's attention

Their Mom is thankful for:
Having a part time job that I like and that pays well
Having a partner and best friend in the town and four lovely kitties,
all of whom care for me
Having a permanent home

This year I feel thankful that the Royal National Institute of the Blind
assessed me for adapations so that I can soon be able to go back to work and
earn my living after being away for nearly a year.
I am thankful that my left eye, after the laser treatment, doesn't seem too
much affected so I am still allowed to drive.
I have a house, and quarter acre, fully paid off that no-one can take away.
Not without a lot of effort.
I miss my dogs, but have the two cats who forced themselves on me. They are
nice, Kitty meatloafed on my chest tonight.  I'm thankful  for her, and
Boyfriend too..

I am *extremely* thankful that I don't live in Iraq.  I know I am safe here.

RPCA
modern medicine, which has made it possible to keep my DH, Rob, alive
and with us
Rob, the love of my live
The kids, Bast bless them, even when they drive me nuts
computers
my warped sense of humor which makes it possible to find most things funny
being spoiled rotten by my loved ones
The fuzzy owners
everything else I've forgotten, or couldn't express

Hear hear!! Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays!

To yours I add,
My mother, who has been EXTREMELY generous to me
non-wage income, which supplements my take home pay.
For having a job with benefits in these troubled times
for 21st century medicine and sanitation
Even though some of the things my country does breaks my heart (Iraq most
notably) I'm grateful to be
an American citizen.
Food, shelter and clothing.
The ability to replace my car with a better one when the old car died last
year. (On my birthday, no less! The treachery!)
For the 16 years I spent with Isadora (RB)
That Panther has survived
For finding Francesca and receiving the outright gift that is Nina. One of
the reasons I love Nina so much is because she does some of the same,
endearing things Isadora used to do.  Makes me wonder if she inherited
Izzy's soul!
For friends, online and off
For being able to go SEE some of them, starting tomorrow.
For two good eyes, and working limbs.
For having discovered this forum!

Happy Thanksgiving, all
Purrs,
Melissa
Panther, Francesca and Nina

I am very thankful to still have my Dad after he suffered a major heart
attack this summer. And I'm thankful for my cats.

The things I'm thankful for:

- All my children and grandchildren are healthy, happy, have loving
families, and live in a free and peaceful place.
- I'm 53 years old and my DH and I were outside playing horse yesterday (a
basketball game), and I almost won!!  [Ergo, I'm healthy and can do the same
things I did when I was a kid.]
- We have a big, warm, beautiful (if a bit in need of repair) home.
[Actually the bank still owns it for the next 29 years, but we're allowed to
live here in peace.]
- My 14-year-old, Bandit, is still healthy and playful (if always grouchy,
but hey, some people enjoy being grouchy!)
- My Demi and Jessie are sleek, healthy, and happy.
- Sammy entered my life this year and *always* keeps things lively and me on
my toes!
- My DH and I both have jobs - we don't like them and they don't pay a lot,
but hey, some people don't have jobs at all, so I'm still thankful.
- I have dear friends in you all who understand my weirdness and accept me
in spite of it.
- I'm going to meet some of those friends in just two days!!!!!!!!!!!!
YAY!!!!!!!  [Bonbon, please give me a call so we can make further
arrangements.]

Hugs,

CatNipped

I'm thankful ...
for Soncek who sleeps on top of me every night now that's it's cold
that Soncek and I are healthy, have a roof over our heads and enough to eat
that we live in peace (and purr for those who are not so lucky)
that I can read rpca every day and see the generosity and kindness of people
I like to call my friends
for my off-line friends
for d*ggies I meet on my walks who trust me even though they do not know me
for kitties I meet, but are for the most part too afraid to come near me
for all that is good in this world.
Best wishes,

I'm thankful for my loving family: my partner Tom and our furry kids.
I'm thankful for our loving extended family.
I'm thankful for our health and the health of our loved ones
(particularly my mom, who has made a nothing-short-of-miraculous
recovery from brain surgery)
I'm thankful for all my friends, both on-line and off-line
I'm thankful for my recent status adjustment to a US permanent resident
(this means I can change jobs if I need/want to without problems!)
I'm thankful for my baby Quetzie boy (RB) who taught me how to love
