The cat and subwoofer

We, DH and myself, are into Hi-FI. As a result of this my husband is on
various groups and forums relating to it. When looking to buy a subwoofer
(a speaker which is for bass and gives out sound that you feel rather than
hear, a mean beast.) he came across this from Russell who had already
bought one two days previously. It made us laugh.

I quote:
"The cat, who sleeps through most things, can now apparently see dead
people and seems to find everything disturbing in a way that it didn't
before two nights ago. If you have a cat, this will make sense."

I emailed Russell to ask if it was OK to quote him and got a further
report.

"Whilst the cat eventually settled into sub use, she reacts to sound from
HD DVD & Blu Ray in away that is only paralleled by producing flea powder.
Instant exit, stage right, every time. I can only imagine it's something
happening at bat frequencies, but its the same with every disk. However,
drop in a CD or standard DVD and it's back to the usual levels of contempt
and disinterest. Weird.
If you search the attachments in various threads, there is a common theme
of new boxes attracting cats, especially subwoofer boxes which require
immediate investigation. It's the subwoofer forum equivalent of placing a
CD or DVD case in the photo for scale. It shold be noted that my cat tends
to make most items of hifi look 'compact'."

I hope it makes you smile too.
