Get > it out of my head! I shouldn't post this but what the hey... many years ago I went out drinking with some work buddies (not to worry, there was a designated driver). It happened to be karaoke night (eeek!) at this place. I didn't sing, there's not enough booze in the world to make me do that. But two of the guys, who had consumed copious amounts of some beverage, sang Ebony & Ivory... except they got their parts switched. We ragged on them for daaaays. What, you were so drunk you couldn't remember your race? LOL

If she does not know the English word she makes one up to fit. Paving slab - stone plate. Gotta love it ;-) it's just so perfect. It's just exactly what it is.

Paving > slab - stone plate. Gotta love it ;-) it's just so perfect. It's just > exactly what it is. Actually, I've seen that expression elsewhere (aside from on this newsgroup, that is). But that doesn't mean she didn't make it up, by coincidence.
The paving slab story reminds me of something that is only tangentially related, but funny. I remember riding in the car with my family once when I was a kid, and we passed a sign that said, "Sidewalk Sale". And my mother asked, "But what would people want with big squares of cement?" She meant it literally - that's how she is. I knew what a sidewalk sale was, so I couldn't have been that young. Everyone in my family roared with laughter - even my mom, once we explained it to her. One thing my mother does have is a good sense of humor, and she's always willing to laugh at herself when she does something silly.

Granby - 29 Mar 2008 04:22 GMT I love the term "earworm" it is how it is.
I remember an Older Aunt being confused by the term "yard sale".

Are you talking? Yes, we are, but it's not the same for me now. I no longer trust her not to hurt me. I don't feel able to confide in her like I used to because I'm not sure she still likes me as much as she once did. It's difficult. She assures me she wants to be friends again but it's not the same, somehow. Something has been spoilt when she called me names.

> I understand. {{{{Tweed}}}} I'm sorry you can't have tat friendship back > like it used to be. Well, not now, anyway. It might just take some time to get over the hurt. Or maybe she needs to show you, in some way, that she's serious about never treating you that way again, and she just hasn't done that so far.
I'm not saying there are any guarantees it will get better. But I am saying that it's also not set in stone that your friendship has been *permanently* damaged. It wasn't that long ago that you didn't think you would ever speak again, and here you are, trying to restart your friendship. Of course you're not going to run right back into it as though nothing happened. But I would suggest keeping an open mind about what might happen after some time has passed.

Yes we email again because I initiated it. The closeness is gone, thanks for the hug. It's a severe loss.

I just want to smooch the top of Mir's head in that second photo. :)

If I try to kiss her anywhere near her face, she gives me this 'keep your disgusting face out of mine!' look. ;) Luckily, Caliban makes up for it. He loves having his face kissed, and even kisses mine.

Mir is usually more demure, at least in photos, if not in real life. I guess she had to be asleep to pose in such an inviting way. :)
