I've just taken a very anguished phone call from Charleen (2am her
time, 6am my time!) because Four was rushed to the emergency vet.
Charleen has been in hospital since Tuesday because she started having
seizures, and when she got home at 10pm yesterday evening and went to
feed Four, she found him collapsed and paralysed in one of his back
legs. He's also lost 1.5lbs in 10 days. David, her DH, had told her
that Four wasn't eating while she was in hospital, but because she's
the one who normally feeds him and David is not normally around, she
put it down to a change in carer.
She took him straight to the Emergency vet (who was aparently next to
useless) who wanted $800 straight up to run tests, X-rays etc and who
told her it was all to do with FIV. She was a bit circumspect at this
and she instead has had Four made comfortable with fluids etc, and
will be going to her own vet at 7.30am because he knows Four and will
not charge the earth to treat him. At this point, we have no idea what
may be wrong although it dies sound like Four has a thrombosis in his
back leg from the symptoms she describes.
Please could both Charleen and Four have some major purrs?? Charleen
is clearly unwell herself, and all she is doing is stressing about
Four and the fact she hasn't updated everyone in the last few days and
so everyone will be thinking she's run off with the money they donated
for vet care for Four! I told her that this was complete and utter
rubbish, but she's worried about it!
Pam, she appologises for her rambling email, but she says she was
tired, confused and stressed so she's not mad/insane, it's just a
jumble of thoughts that came out! I told her you would fully
understand!
Please purr for the both of them, and I will update more when I hear
later.
Thanks

Lots and lots of purrs on the way. If you talk to her again, please tell
her not to worry about us, just concentrate on getting better herself
and on Four.

What she said! Bad enough to be ill yourself but then to worry about Four
on top of that.

Thank you for posting this Helen.
I feel so bad about her situation and will be praying very hard for her

She made the right decision to take Four to her own vet.

My God! What terrible news. Purrs for both of them!
Does Charleen have an ongoing condition that caused the seizures, or
is this something new? It sounds very scary. I hope it's something her
doctor can get under control.
And poor Four - after all he's been through, to have to go through
this, now. It's really sad.
Please keep us posted, one way or another!
Joyce
PS - And needless to say, it would never once cross my mind that just
because she hasn't posted in a (short) while, that means she's run off
with our donations! What a silly person!

Haven't read my mail yet, but I'll understand. I get rambling myself. I
don't know what's going on, but am wishing and thinking for the best and am
asking the cats to offer up their best rumbly purrs for them all. Charleen
would never abuse our trust in her. Please let her know that.

I just got back from a RL whirlwind and OMG, I'm so sorry to hear
this...
Many purrs for Charleen and Four....particularly from Smokey, who
remembers what it was to be outside, in rough shape and
unloved....Smokey wants Four to get to enjoy his new life for longer.
