Does anyone have a crazy cat like Maui?  He goes into the kitchen when he's
bored and merrrrowwsssss.  (Siamese yowlees).  He wants me to come in there
where as he plops on his side and wants to be twirled.  That's taking my
hand, place it sideways on his belly and spin him in circles.  He loves it!!
Even when he gets dizzy.  He lays there afterwards and yowls for more even!!
If I don't go in there and do this, he jumps on the counters and knocks
things off!!

Had to share!!  :)

I used to have cat who loved that too.  Tuffy would also curl up in the
round laundry basket so we could twirl him around.  He'd get so dizzy
his head would wobble, so we'd wait for it to stop, but he'd wait for us
to do it again and again. We'd tire of the game before he did. Whenever
he spotted the laundry basket, that was it, he'd jump in.

O T Mahoney does this.  The faster the girls spin him, the happier he is.  I
have some of that wood snap together floor that is extremely slick and he
spins well on it!

That's work in progress.  My other digital camera died, so I bought a new
one.  It's still in the box sitting on the stove (shows you how much I
cook)!  But it does have video capability...  now to open said box!!

My cats have reached the mothership and are purring, in your general
direction, "open the box, open the box, open the box ..."

My family used to have a cat, Krisse, who loved that. I haven't tried it
with Mir, but I suspect she might like it, because she likes me to 'beat
her up' every now and then. Actually, several times a day. Caliban does
not like rough-housing. He has no sense of humour.

Isn't that funny?  Poor Caliban, he has no sense of humor?  He's a walking
comedy routine!  Which makes it even funnier.

My little Mimi (RB) was as dignified and prim as it gets.  She looked
exactly like a tiny nun in a habit:
http://pets.webshots.com/photo/1203810491054217802iBNZxa

But she LOVED getting "beat up" as you put it.  She loved being handled very
firmly, and stroked the "wrong" way.  She loved getting wrapped up in a
towel and rubbed down.  Every night, she would jump on my mother's bed for
her "Nightly Beating," a very vigorous rubdown, with a lot of ear and tail
pulling.

Such a pretty little girl. The funny thing is, when I first got Miranda,
I saw her as this delicate little flower that I was afraid to crush, so
I was very gentle with her. She was well over 1 year old before I
realised she actually liked a bit of rough handling. Now she demands it
many times a day.

Ha.  Mimi fooled me, too.  She was a tiny cat, spent most of her life
between 4 and 6 pounds soaking wet.  And she seemed like such a shy girl
when I brought her home.  She immediately hid under the bed, and I was able
to lure her out with lasagne. ;)  That was why I named her Mimi-- she first
reminded me of Mimi in "La Boheme"-- she seemed like a shy, timid girl.  She
always held herself with dignity, but she was a terror. ;)   She gave dirty
looks from hell.  She loved to scamper all over the house, and walk upside
down under the furniture.  She got a huge kick out of "curiously" checking
out guests who were afraid of cats. ;)  She owned everything and everyone.
AND she had that little nun's habit.

That's true. I'm thinking of that photo of him from the island stomping
around with a blade of grass in his mouth, looking like some guy chomping
on a cigar. :)

Roxy loves to get "spanked" on the fatty part of her flank, and the harder
I hit, the more she enjoys it. A friend of mine had a cat who loved this,
also, and he even had some sort of device to give her a big wallop on the
flank - a spring with a ball on the end. He called it "thumping". I just
call it what it is: spanking. :)

The thing that intrigues me is how cats let their preferencences be known.

Mine goes to the spot where a certain activity takes place, then sits
and waits, looking at us.  When the desired activity begins, the purring
and facial expression says it all.

I have two cats like this. I don't twirl them on the floor (though after
reading your post, I might try), but Roxy *loves* getting rides in the
laundry basket, or any basket or bag. I don't spin around, as that would
make *me* dizzy, but I do swing her from side to side, very high up on
either end, and very fast. She absolutely loves it. I have to do it twice,
minimum. She also loves being spun around on my office chair.

When Licky first came here, he saw Roxy getting these rides, and decided
he wanted in on the action. So now he gets rides on the chair and in the
laundry basket, too, though not as often as Roxy.

Smudge is definitely not interested!

That's a new one for me, but my kitties have had all kinds of
eccentricities.  Dante sits in one of his boxes, and once I lifted the box
up with him in it and took him for a little ride. ;)  I confess, I only did
this to mess with him-- oh admit, it, you all like to mess with your cats
sometimes. ;)    But he loved it, the little screwball.   Now I have to do
it all the time, and he is not a lightweight. :P

Stinky has always liked to spin on the computer chair.  All my cats have
loved having their tails pulled.  That took some getting used to for me,
since when I was about three, I grabbed a cat's tail (poor thing, he was
otherwise very tolerant of a toddler's maraudings), and he scratched me.
Obviously, that didn't scar me for life. ;)

Have you heard about frozen BandAids for cold cuts <EG>

Pookie LOVES to play rough.  He also likes to be twirled on the kitchen
floor. And he likes to have his tail pulled too.   And they all like to
chase the laser pointer dot up and down the hall.  It's fun to try and make
them 'dance' by following the 'dot'.  I'm careful not to get the laser in
their eyes tho.
That way, they get their excercise.

Not around on the floor, but Qui Gun Kit loves to be bagged and carried.  He
climbs into tote bags and makes just enough noise that he gets noticed and
then one of us will give him a tote bag ride.  Merlin and Huey adore my
office chair.  They will take running leaps into the chair and set it off
spinning.  They both seem to prefer clockwise motion rather than counter
clockwise, and look up at me as if they are urging me on when I get up from
the chair and let one of them on for a ride.

OH, the memories! Belle (RB at almost 22, and my first real
cat-to-be-a-slave-to) LOVED to play cat-inna-bag.

She would climb into a paper grocery bag I left on it's side, and then
I'd grab the top of the bag, hold it tightly closed and swing her
(fairly gently) back and forth, singsonging "cat inna bag! cat inna
bag!" Then I'd set the bag back down and she'd come out...and go back in
again in a little bit to do it again.

I miss Belle. None of the other cats "get" cat-inna-bag, although many
of them like to play in and around paper bags. <sigh>

It seems like it at times.  Mostly they amuse themselves, but sometimes they
insist that Ma and PaRob take a hand.  Speedy gets involved with tag, hide
the kitty, and death from above.  We just watch and try not to embarrass
them.

Tote bags are the best. Roxy likes to get rides in my laundry basket, so
I oblige her, but it's hard on my back. She would be perfectly happy to
ride in a paper bag, but I don't trust the handles. If I were swinging her
around hard and they broke, she'd go flying into the wall or furniture,
or whatever.

Tote bags are much stronger, but they're kind of limp when not in use,
so I don't think it occurs to Roxy that they're actually *bags*. However,
several weeks ago a friend was visiting who had a "structured" canvas
tote bag, ie, it was sewn in such a way that it maintained its shape and
stood up on its own, when not in use. This bag was sitting on the floor
empty while my friend was visiting, and Roxy considered that an invitation
to jump in.

It was perfect. The bag was box-shaped, so Roxy enjoyed sitting inside it.
It was made of sturdy canvas, with handles I trusted not to break, so I
could swing her around without worrying about disaster. And, it not being
shaped like a laundry basket, I could swing it back-and-forth, ie, front
to back between my legs, which is much easier on my back.

The night my friend brought that bag over was the same night she brought
her camera, to take pictures of Everett. So I got some photos of Roxy
inside the Magic Tote Bag:

We have several from our local Books a Million for various prizes (like for
renewing our discount card) ad they are wonderful.  Stiff canvas sides long
and just wide enough to be comfortable with snugness for security.  Qui Gun
Kit thinks that they are gifts from Bast and insists that they belong to
cat.
