What gods or patron saints are your cats?

Dot is the goddess of curiosity and adventure.  She helps adventurers
discover plenty of nooks and crannies, and scientists discover new
insights.  Pray to her before you take a nap, and you will explore new
worlds in the realm of your dreams.

Buster is a god of the hearth and home.  He is someone who loves to be
at home, and would never think of running off to the cold, scary Out.
He defends his home fiercely even when it involves crashing headfirst
into a glass door over and over again.  Pray to him and you will
always be happy and content with what you have, even if you have a
headache.

Betty is the goddess of affection.  If you say a prayer to her, you
will develop deeper ties with those who are close, and you will
recognize traits in people that will endear them to you.

Qui Gun Kit is the patron saint of the stuck.  He has gotten himself stuck
more times than the rest of the clowder put together.

Sonya is the patron saint of astonishment.  She always seems astonished with
whatever is going on.  Those big ears perk up and her eyes are always wide.

Huey is the patron saint of the ill.  He is the bestest nurse cat in our
house.  Some one is ill, Huey is there.  He doesn't leave until the person
is well again.

Miss Calico Girl is the patron saint of manners and the purr.  She is the
first cat we've ever been owned by that has loud rumbly purrs.  If you act
up, she gives you that disapproving look that says that she can't believe
anyone could be so stupid.  Oh, she's also the patron saint of hair
stylists.

Tanada is the patron saint of the obnoxious.  That cat knows more ways to
get under your skin than any cat should know.  She is a pro at the tail in
the face, the fart in your face as you sleep, and taking over a hoomin's
plate.  You don't want  her teaching your kittens ANYTHING.

QC is patron saint of love and reading a person's real personality.  She has
never been wrong about a person, yet.  Those few she hasn't liked were
unlikeable to the extreme.  The really good ones, she's been known to dash
across the room and leap into their arms and hug them.  She's the sweetest
cat ever born.

Merlin is the patron saint of bullies.  If sh*t rolls down hill, Merlin is
right behind it making sure that each recipient receives their fair share.
Needless to say he and QC ignore each other.

Pine Cone is the patron saint of the smart alek hoolikitten everywhere.
That boy has attitude.

Meow Meow is the patron saint of the needy nippers.  He wants love, but when
you try to give it to him, he nips at your fingers

Wamsee is the patron saint of the sleeping cat.  She never knows any other
position.

Great post! Good thread.

Smudge is also the goddess of curiosity and adventure. Perhaps a bit
*too* much curiosity, bordering on danger. Pray to Smudge and you'll
want to climb a volcano or go skydiving or traipsing through a country
you've never been to, where you don't know the language, and where
you refuse to stay with the tourists.

Roxy is the goddess of patience, equanimity, and good humor, with just
enough naughtiness from time to time so she doesn't get boring. Pray
to her and you'll be wanting to join a Buddhist monestary. But you'll
be a just a little bit like the Dalai Lama - not overly serious. You'll
still say silly things and giggle to yourself.

Licorice is the god of beauty. Pray to him when you're dressing for
a date with someone you'd really like to get to know, or when you're
going to an important job interview. You'll be elegant, stylish and
very alluring.

Lindy is the goddess of "I want attention, and I want it now!"  Her motto is
"Pet me whenever I demand it, and don't stop until I tell you to - but don't
try to pick me up or hold onto me."

Nanki-Poo is the god of hunting, and also of devotion.  He is the most
affectionate cat I have ever known, but only with me.  Most other people who
come over don't even see him.

Tiger: patron saint of all that is orderly, if one bit of furniture, a food
bowl or pillow is out of place he will let you know when it happens and
remind you until it is put right.

Trudi:  GOD of everything and lets you know it
Stormmee: patron saint of DH, protects him fiercely against all intruders no
matter their species or electronic configuration
OEJ: patron saint of complainers everywhere, and gives lessons on how to
complain, secondary position of queens of happy paws as a means of
communication
Chester: actually is ambassador to the universe, likes everyone, everything,
with a special emphasis on new cats and people food.
TV:  non of the above or anything else, being anything but pudding to be
petted would require using too much energy

I LOVE this thread, Tak!

Persia is the goddess of serenity.  She commands tranquility.  She is
intolerant of disruptions and storms (particularly storms!) and makes her
displeasure of such things known.  She can be a fierce warrior goddess when
the need arises but mostly rules her territory with soft paw.

Sometimes I think Stinky *is* the Buddha.  He radiates acceptance and
equanimity (except towards Dante, of course).  He is curious, and pretty
fearless.  When the doorbell rings, he runs *toward* it to see who's coming
to visit.  A friend once said "He glows with amiability," and he always has.

Dante is the God of Complete Ridiculousness (or Ridiculosity ;)).  Just to
look at him with his ridiculous, smug expression, is to laugh.

Feather (RB) was the mousie god of death for lower Chapel Street and
the environs. He struck well-founded terror into the rodent population
for years. In his spare time, he was the god of aerobatics, floating
to the top of the refrigerator whenever my then-girlfriend arrived
with her Airedale terrorist Chopper. In his retirement, he torments
_toy_ mice only and leaps and balons among the stars. His worshippers
should be very worried.

Winnie (RB) is the god of congeniality. And the loud demander of
breakfast. In his retirement, he will continue in the former role and
will cooperate with any schemes or plans that his old pal Feather,
also the god of bad examples, comes up with. His worshippers should be
of good cheer.

Maggy May is the mother goddess. Having raised several generations of
kittens, including our wonderful Winnie, and our perhaps less-
wonderful Missy, she also raised a black Lab named Bear from
puppyhood. These exertions not being enough, she is now concerned with
mothering and loving all things. She is a delight to pet and her purr
is unsurpassed. Her worshippers should be kind and caring of all life.
Maybe not parrots.

Sunrise, the PRETTY WUN, is the goddess of posing and posturing. She
IS extremely beuatiful, red and sleek with copper burning eyes,  and
she knows it. The song WAS about her and it still is. Her worshippers
should, well, WORSHIP her.

Missy is the goddess who keeps alive the awareness of the evil of
humankind. While quite happy to take food and shelter from the
despised monkey-folk, she does not submit to their rule or grant them
any affection. She is quite fond of the dog Bear and of her mother,
Maggy May and even Sunrise but hoomins are not to be trusted. Her
worshippers should sacrifice a human to her every so often but they
have disappointed her so far.

Maggy May is the goddess of the cuddle and the sleep, the comfy chair,
the drawer full of soft clothes, the perfect spot on the carpet in the
sunshine. Her worshippers should watch her sleeping with her little
paw on her nose and sigh.

Not sure about divinity, but Jake certainly considers himself royalty.

He is such an attention hog, I sometimes forget that he really isn't a lap
cat.  Not much of a nurse cat either.  Everything on his term, always.

He will jump up on us a few times a day.  But not to cuddle.  Only to give
his front paws a good workout.

If he needs something, he will stand in the room and yell at us till we
figure out what he wants.

He also excels at standing on whatever anyone happens to be trying to read.

But at bedtime he shows his soft side.  He spends a lot of his time on our
bed anyway.  And once we are both in bed, he takes up his place in the
center between our pillows.  And always at least some part of him will be
touching us.  So gently you can hardly tell.  But he sleeps in contact.
When its cold, I'll wake up with his paws in my hair to keep them warm.
Other times he will have one paw in my hand,

Many nights that's how we sleep, with one of his paws in my hand.

(Now if my older daughter is here, he has a personality melt down.  He loves
for her to hold him and scratch him and generally manhandle and love him.
Its normal to see him with his butt in her arms and his paws wrapped around
her neck)

That's adorable!

Awww, he seems really attached to her!

Sweep RB was patron saint of practical jokes. Some of you may remember her
stories, those who don't can read them on Flippy's website. She was also
the patron saint of reason. If I wanted her to do something, or not to do
something, I would have to explain why, then she would comply. Unless she
didn't think the explanation was reasonable. if she accepted the reason
she would comply even if she didn't really want to.

Sophie RB was patron saint of patience, gentleness and being relaxed. Also
of nature watching. She would watch anything, Spiders, worms, birds,
butterflies, all God's creatures but would never harm one. Oh, and love.
She gave it in abundance. She was also patron saint of obedience. (Yes,
it's true.) Sometimes I would have to remind her she was not only Sophie
but also a cat.

Boyfie would be the god of amiability and kindness.  There is not an unkind
or fierce bone in his body.
I'm not sure what KFC would be unless she could be goddess of slash and
don't you ever dare mess with me ;-)
Maybe a fierce huntress goddess like she used to be.  4lbs of attitude even
now.  So small but still so scary.

Well, lets see.  Mz Piglet would be Goddess of "leave me to myself unless I
need to teach the other kittens something."  She would need to be worshiped
from afar until she felt like honoring you with her presence.  Just supply
the food and water and all will be well in her kingdom.

O. T. would be the second in command to Gabriel.  Announcing every event
with his presence then the business at hand.  No need for worship here, just
keep him the loop of information.

Willow would be the Goddess of "Iron fist in a velvet glove."  When she
deems you worthy of an audience, she will tell you.

Wouldn't she be one of the main disciples of the New Feline Order?

It's true, she can't be the Goddess of said Order. That honor belongs to
a certain Feline currently darkening the city of Ottawa, Ontario.

Joyce - that's too close to California...

If Kitty Farmcat was (were?) younger,  Ontario Cat (and we know of whom you
speak)  would not have a chance.  But KFC recognises that she is very old
now and she reluctantly hands over to her.  She better do it good or Kitty
will be up from the fireside to say something.
You can guarantee that ;-)
