So there I am reading the LOLSpeak tutorial on Icanhascheesburger:
1-in-five-easy-steps/>and
realised that rec.pets.cats.community have been writing a version ofLOLcat, or more specifically, 'meowchat', since The Big Split in 1996,probably even beforehand because the meowchat is why they got their owngroup.Does RPCC pre-date any of teh LOL-speak sites? Did it evolve seperately?Enquiring minds are bored and looking for something to distract them fromdoing actual work.Yowie

"Meow-chat" predates even the Big Split.  I've been "meow-chatting" in one
form or another since September 1995, back in the days of
rec.pets.cats.community when you used to have to preface the subject line of
the message with "Meow."  I'm pretty sure that the "meow-chat" predates
lol-speak sites.

Yes, I still meow-chat on rpcc.  Right now, eighteen-year-old Kitty
Schottland is getting wedwinked to Lewi D. Cat, Age 1.  Boy, is that ever a
May-December romance!

Hey, they say love is blind, in this case deaf, since Lewi is a deafcat.
Who is to say where the feline heart goes?

Sorry, my bad.  Meant to say rec.pets.cats (without the "community).
