Sherry - 16 Mar 2008 20:31 GMT Hi All,
I've been more of a lurker than a poster for the past three months and am just now trying to "get back in the groove." It was a difficult Jan. and Feb. and I was either too busy to participate, or too depressed to care. I was in the hospital, in and out, most of Dec. and Jan., first getting stents in my heart and then dealing with blood clots in my legs *due* to the repeated heart caths. (If the disease doesn't kill ya, the doctors will) Plus, my dad has been from the hospital for minor surgery that went wrong, to a nursing home during that time. (see aforesaid quote about doctors and hospitals :-) ) DH was in a bad car accident and totalled out his truck. So we're currently dealing with doctors, and insurance people but I think it's all going to be okay. The silver lining of it all is that I spent the winter quilting, 'cause I was pretty much homebound. Here are some of the quilts if anyone cares to take a look: http://community.webshots.com/user/Sherry0123 I see a few new posters, and am missing some of the regulars whom I hope will also drop back in soon. Cats are fine; Yoda is still battling the eye ulcer. I'm quite sure he can't see out of the eye, but the vet says it isn't painful and the filmy look is scar tissue. Biskit is still the same polite little thing; amazingly enough, I caught her using the toilet to pee the other day. It was kind of creepy. Boots still rules the roost; Bosley wishes he could rule the roost, and Frank spends most of his time belly-aching to go outside. My deepest sympathy goes to those who lost their beloved kitties, or family members. You were in my thoughts. That about catches me up!

You have all been through the wars, Sherry. How are your father and Larry doing? How are you doing? Have the kids been able to help you all out? I've been wondering how you were, but every so often I'd see a post from you and think, well, Sherry is a busy person and probably doesn't want to be cooped up with the computer.
Your quilts are totally stunning. Rob's mom makes quilt tops then sends them out to be quilted. They're also incredible, but it almost seems like cheating to me. I recently sent her some quilt squares that I'd painted during my Tri-Chem phase of crafting. I'm hoping that she'll be able to make something awesome out of them. I don't quilt, but I envy those who do. Your quilts are so sunny and cheerful that they make me feel happy too. I notice that cats are part of many of the quilt pictures. I think I saw Biskit and Booty in a couple of them.
Funny that Biskit has taught herself to use the toilet. I get a kick out of her, she is such a quirky little girl. We're revving up the purr motors for Yoda's eye and for all of you hoomins as well.
Healing wishes and thoughts for you all,
Pam S.
Sherry - 16 Mar 2008 21:33 GMT > > Hi All, > [quoted text clipped - 54 lines] > > - Show quoted text - Thanks, Pammy. Me, busy?? You made me laugh. I'm a recluse. L is okay, he just can't move his neck. I imagine it's fixable. Dad, not so okay. I think I've finally "turned the corner" and think all I need now is spring to finally get here. Biskit just either loves a quilt on the floor, or she's a camera hog. If you look close, she manages to get at least one ear in every picture, LOL. I think it's all going to "come out in the wash." We haven't had near the trials that you all have. You're still my hero in that regard. Kids are good Cody works for FedEx (the only time I see him is when I order fabric) Jamie is still a cardiac floor RN, so she's a lot of help. That's okay. It means they're doing fine and don't need anything!!! I can't gripe about anything, except shedding season. :-(

Aw, shucks, Sherry. We just do what we have to in order to make it through each day. I have a couple of camera hogs here too. Huey, QC, Pine Cone, and Merlin all love the camera and will try to become part of the picture. Glad that the kids are doing well and hope that everyone else does well soon. Shedding season has already landed here. The fur drifting in the light around here would make Yowie's Carey thrilled.

In that case, you can count on having Biskit with you for a *great many years.* Look how long Vanna White has had her job. (Just don't let Biskit know how much Vanna gets paid to turn letters...He may expect a lot more kittie treats.)

I'm glad you're doing better, and that your husband was OK after the accident. Whew, that is too much for such a short time, to be dealing with all that!
> The silver lining of it all is that I spent the winter quilting, > 'cause I was pretty much homebound. Here > are some of the quilts if anyone cares to take a look: > http://community.webshots.com/user/Sherry0123 These are stunning. I'm inspired! My favorite is "xshining star", but I also like the "xgrandmother" ones, and the "xhouse rows" - but all are very complex and professional-looking. (You do it professionally, don't you? If not, you should! Although I do understand that meeting customers' demands might take the joy out of it, which is why I pursue my hobbies as *just that*. Still, you could definitely make money on those.) Also the quilting itself is very impressive. That's the part I still don't understand how to do. I'm still working on learning how to do the patchwork!
Oh, the calico kitty made all the pictures look much more endearing, even if she just hung around on the edges. (I apologize for being such a dolt and not remembering her name.)
Welcome back.

I have quilted other people's tops before, though. That's Biskit. She makes sure there is cat hair all over the quilt, and insists on posing with it. Sherry

You must have a natural gift for it, then. A BIG natural talent. Those really do look professional, very carefully crafted. And you couldn't thread a sewing machine before two years ago?? Sheesh, I've been sewing for 40 years, and I don't know how to make something that classy.
But you *have* inspired me. :)
