Kyla =^..^= - 13 Mar 2008 08:45 GMT Poor Mosey, IDK what's wrong with him. I haven't seen any signs of his pooping 'anywhere' for 2 days now, I've been feeding him beefy babyfood, with his regular favorite canned food, and he's been throwing up his dry food., but tonite he didn't want any of the canned either :( He seem 'depressed', and I don't want to have to take him to TED again:( DH has been depressed lately too, and Mosey and Pookie have been hissing at each other. I've tried petting them and talking to them, but they're just not telling me what's wrong. IDK what's wrong around here...it's like bad vibes have hit my home and I don't like it one darn bit!! OUT OUT bad vibes!!! Yer NOT welcome in MY home!!! Purrs to me are Cat Prayers, am I right? As well as 'healing' for us. Kyla =^..^= - 14 Mar 2008 09:49 GMT I hear that, and I'm calling TED tomorrow morning. If you're having trouble, there's a good pdrink by Sunsweet called PlumSmart, it's good tasting, good for ya and it works:) BTW, did you know that they're pushing prunes as 'dried plums"? What next, raisins are know going to be called 'dried grapes'?? How PC. Hug Kyla

I love the flavored prunes, especially the orange ones.
And chocolate covered prunes are amazingly good. Only you'd better only eat just one (or two)
We used to have a prune, and then later a dried plum festival in September. The best thing they had: An old French Plum farmer, (those are the kind they dry) would sit down every evening with clean ripe plums and stick popsicle sticks in them and throw them in the freezer. They would give them away at the festival and the line would be around the building.

Reminds me of a camping trip I was on with my sister and her friend when we were teenie boppers. They got into a bag of prunes and ate them like candy---we had to stop and find a tree soooo many times. I felt quite smug I hadn't eaten very many!

You asked for purrs and said you don't want to take Mosey to TED again. Surely you know that you *do* need to get him to a vet, and it needs to be done ASAP. You have described serious symptoms, and you owe it to Mosey to have him medically evaluated. Yes, sometimes we dread going back to a doctor again, and Mosey probably hates it. But, please, you can't just sit around and talk about vibes at a time like this. Get Mosey to a vet!

Please take Mosey to the vet, although I am sure he won't want to go. It sounds serious and Maggy May will be worried when I tell her.
And, of course, we all purr for Mosey every day.

I'm calling TED tomorrow morning to see if I can get Mosey in right away. I can't lose my FuzzFace, who purrs my knee pain away. He's only 6 years old, and such a love. Thank you for your purrs Kyla --crying because I'm scared

Kyla? Mosey needs to be seen by the vet THIS MORNING!! It is incredinly painful for a cat not to be able to poo. It can also lead to much more serious issues. Several cats in my family started out w/this, and the end result was not good.
Throw on some cloths and go to the vet NOW!! And, of course, I wish you and definitely Mosey, the very best!!!!

However, I do not think my message was "mean." I think you are over-reacting. You did not indicate until your follow-up message that you are diabled -- that was not in the message I responded to. However, in your original message, you talked about a cat that seemed depressed, had not pooped for two days, and said you did not want to take him to TED again. To me, all of that meant that TED *was* needed ASAP. Moreover, I notice that in both of your messages to me, you deleted everything that you said so that the only thing that appears is my message. That's rather selective editing.

I've read MaryL's posts for many, many years; and if you ever familiarize yourself with her postings, they are intended to be informational and helpful, in a practical sort of way. All of us don't "purr." It doesn't mean we're any less concerned or desire less to help any slave help sort out an illness, injury, etc. Her post wasn't mean-spirited in the least. That's just the way she writes. BTW, she's actually *very* knowledgeable about cats, particularly introducing new cats into the home. She could probably write a book :-) Her blind cat Duffy is rather an rpca star, as his amazing transformation and progress in Mary's care was chronicled here on rpca. Good luck with Mosey. I hope he has his appetite back by now; as it's very common for hepatic lipidosis (fatty liver disease) to set in if a cat goes more than 48 hours without eating. Don't be too grossed out by the tapes. They're actually probably the most benign of all parasites cats can get, and easiest to get rid of.

I'll be keeping a close eye on him and if he seems out of sorts again, back to TED he goes. He's to go in for a re-check in about a month around my birthday. I think he'll be fine.

I have not successfully installed NIN on this computer - there's something I'm missing in the setup. But NIN refreshes frequently so when I was trying to k/f someone else it refreshed and my own post was highlighted, so I killed myself (so to speak). This may have happened with you and hop's posts. If you've got the email address you can remove hopitus from OE's blocked senders list. (I hate that there isn't a search feature on that screen; as a QA person I'd have sent it back for changes before its release.)
People complain about Window's Vista but ONE thing I love about it is I can k/f the @gmail nuts but still allow "legit" posters with gmail addresses as I choose. I *could* install another news reader but frankly I'm not interested in having to figure one out. I had enough of figuring out and tweaking software when I did QA (quality assurance) testing.

Shall have to figure out why she's apparently blocked. Have a great St. P Day yourself.

Snipping is fine but removing pretty much the entire post in order to reply is very confusing. So is deleting the attributions of who said what.
Kyla, different posters have different styles of writing. I've read MaryL's posts for many, many years; and if you ever familiarize yourself with her postings, they are intended to be informational and helpful, in a practical sort of way. All of us don't "purr." (snippage) Sherry ============================================== Good point, Sherry. I send out "purrs" but in my case it's certainly not meant to be construed as a religious thing in any way, shape or form. It's more like "I wish you luck" (and even that doesn't quite explain it).
Mary's Duffy is truly an amazing kitty, and of course Holly is a wonderful companion for him :) Mary's done great things.

Sherry
Sherry, Thanks very much for this message! You gave me too much credit, but you really lifted my spirits and "made my day." Also, thanks to MLB, Bonnie, Tweed, and Jill. I really appreciated those words of support.

Duffy is blind? Wow...that I did not know. I loved looking at his pictures and he's a sweetheart, very fuzzy and fluffy..he reminds me of Mosey :)

Oh dear :( TED told me to keep him off the dry food, which is hard with 4 cats, but he loves it and has been eating, somewhat, and I spoon fed him some chicken babyfood tonite and then put the furball gel on his paw for him to lick off. TED wants him on a poultry diet, but he was so hungry he ate almost a whole can of Friskies shredded beef.
Don't be too grossed out
> by the tapes. They're actually probably the most benign of all > parasites cats can get, and easiest to > get rid of. Haven't seen the worm yet. He went in the box after he got home from TED on Friday and no sign of it. I sure hope the hairball stuff makes him poop.I haven't seen any since yesterday. He probably has a furball stuck and he's constipated. I'm gonna keep an eye on him, for sure. He acts playful and happy and even took a 'purring cuddle nap' with me today, so I know he's feeling better, :) I told him I wanted him to poop for me, and I can tell if he does, because he never buries it in the litterbox, and sometimes outside the box. I have 2 boxes for 4 Cats and they like to use the one on the left, for some reason, but I know when Mosey goes. He comes in to tell me at 3 am if he does, and I scoop the boxes at least 3 times a day.

I'm one of these wierd people who doesn't like to have people upset with me. *shrug* I've always been that way, since I was a kid. I'm so sorry if I mis-judged you. May I offer you a Hug? Bless your heart Kyla

The main thing is, I think it is important for all of us to be able to provide information about the care of our furbabies. Even though this is the anecdotes group, it is still about cats, and my primary interest is in giving -- and receiving -- information on cat care. Of course, I often enjoy just sharing stories about my twosome (and I'm not above bragging about them).
