A few weeks ago Louie and i agreed to watch a couple of foster kitties for
Tenth Chance. And then the day they were to be delivered I fell and sprained
my achilles tendon and 2 ligaments surrounding the ankle; and this is why I
haven't been here as much as I'd like. But I digress. Our friend Jeff offered
to take the cats because I wasn't able to get up and tend to them properly,
and it was approved by the shelter. The recent storm activity to have
pummeled Buffalo made a cat-sized hole in the bottom of Jeff's trailer; you
may have seen what i call a skirt that surrounds the bottom of a trailer. It
was knocked out and put a small escape route in the wall behind a cabinet.
One little girl escaped, Brianna. the shelter boss is devastated, as was the
original foster caretaker; i don't know why the latter lady didn't take the
cats.
We have set a trap baited with cat yummies; so far we caught the wrong cat, a
nice black fella who lives a few doors down. Louie thought he saw Brianna
messing around some 30 feet away when we went out there over the weekend, but
she ducked under another similar trailer-hole.
i am scared witless for her. She's a chubby kitty who has never known the
great outdoors. her companion, Squeak, is still with Jeff, and he has been
going ape$#*! around the area where she vanished. We think--hope--she has
been coming back at least to the outside. She has been gone a little over a
week, and I want to slap Jeff. He didn't tell us for three days, and by then
the nice weather had given way to a nasty storm system that hung about all
weekend. the trap is still placed, but some get-your-furry-tuchas-home purrs
would be greatly appreciated. For Brianna, and the shelter volunteers who
trusted us from our long association with an otherwise great caretaker; he
doesn't believe in letting cats out but the storm made an unfortunate
opportunity.
Blessed be,
Baha
