Today was Sunday, mobile adoption day! So I headed up there this
afternoon to visit my pal Everett.

When I got there, there was a small group of teenagers sitting in
a circle, and one of them had Everett on her lap. So I went over to
them, and I told the kids that I had been Everett's foster mom for
a month (the teens were completely unimpressed), and I wanted to say
hi to him. I petted him and spoke to him, but he was zonked out, so
although I wanted to pick him up and cuddle him, he looked so content
there, and the girl looked pretty content having him, that I left
them that way and went off to visit the other kitties.

I played with two cats, and chatted with one of the volunteers, the
one who is now fostering Everett. She also has his brother from the
same litter, but at first, they didn't get along at all, and hissed
and growled at each other all the time. They have since learned to
tolerate each other, but I guess they were separated too long because
the don't seem to recognize each other as littermates. I don't know
the whole story as to why they were separated in the first place.

Later I went back to see if the kids were done petting Everett, and
found that he was now perched on another kid's lap. The other two kids
were doing other things. So I sat down in front of the boy and tried
to get Everett's attention. Then the kid said he had to help the
volunteers, so he handed Everett over to me. I held him, and the little
creep didn't even purr! I swear, he had no idea who I was. I stroked
him and kissed him and cooed at him, and he seemed OK with just hanging
there, but there wasn't a flicker of recognition. <sigh>

But it was nice seeing him. I sure hope he finds a home soon!
