One wrecked bedroom later

I've just spent almost half an hour picking things up in the
bedroom.,,,

And for once it isn't Sarsi...

I may have given all of you the impression Dunzi spends much of her
time meditating on infinity, getting high on DaNip and generally being
a hippy and indeed that is how she spends much of her time. However
there is one thing that can turn her from a small inert pile of purrs
into a primal hunter...House flies...Any fly coming within range must
have left it's nearest and dearest a suicide note sort of "Dear wife,
by the time you read this I will have been eaten please tell our 1,000
little one's I love them". Dunzi seems to think she earns her keep
catching house flies she takes it very seriouly indeed she is the big
black fly hunter (Sarsi chases them but isn't interested in catching
them)

So i was sitting in the bedroom when I heard the most amazing range of
yowling and I thought the girls were having a brawl so I called out to
them to stop and Dave said what did I mean? Sarsi was doing her well
known dead cat impersonation on top of his PC. (she's very good at it-
she's had a lot of practice!)

At that point Dunzi seemed to be throwing herself around and for one
mad second I even thought she was having some sort of fit...then I saw
the fly...

The fly by now was having second thoughts about it's death wish and
shot across the room, still cursing furiously Dunzi leapt after
it...Landed on top of the drawers, knocked down 2 CD boxes, which of
course immediately emptied and a shoe box (ditto). Fly made a move for
the washing basket so clothes went everywhere as Dunzi crashlanded on
them indeed Dunzi went flying and was buried under an avalanche of
dirty clothes, she shot out from under that as if someone had set fire
to her tail, scattering clothes even further then landed on a pile of
books all of which slipped over and hit the floor but Dunzi was now
within range of target for a second. Fly doubled back Dunzi managed an
awkward turn in a narrow space on top of the wardrobe, which was
quickly widened by boxes falling off. I toyed with picking stuff up
but remembered what happened the last time I got in her way when she
was galloping about and decided discretion was the better part of
valour

Then finally the last leap and the fly was taken as so many are in mid
air you can almost hear the little fly brain thinking "Ha! Ha! I can
fly and the silly cat can't...she won't be able to get me up here!...
(snap!) why has it gone dark all of a sudden?" and that's the last
thing they think

Of course she then trots up to be praised for making her little
contribution to health and hygiene in the home...still chewing her
prey and wanting a kiss! Like all good slaves I obey..come on...who
here hasn't done that whilst realising the cat has just been licking
their own backside?

Then job well done she settled back down for a nap while I picked
everything up and put it back for her

OK where was the beverage waring? You're really slacking Lesley, you haven't
posted a video of the fly chase. ;-)

Dunzi she is a brave and fearless hunter cat.  Otis is duly impressed :-)

Our girls take bug-and-fly-catching duties very seriously too... it
must be part of the official feline job description!
