Bucky's paw is looking a lot better, and he is sort of almost letting
me give him his medicine. He struggles a bit, and I finally get it in
his mouth, but he still tells me that I am poisoning him.
Tonight, I sat down on the floor with Bucky and sat him in my lap, the
better to hold him while forcing his medicine on him.
Bucky looked me in the eye and reminded me that he had several claws
with immediate access to my crotch. I decided that this was a good
time to reconsider my options, and we settled for giving him his
medicine while sitting next to me instead.
Poor baby. He did start up a nice rumbly purr for me while I
sweet-talked him after the medicine (grin).
Hugs and Purrs,

Mosey did the same thing when I gave him his yukky meds.

There ya go. Purrs lovingly sent for Bucky, to get better.
Hug for you.

You are taking such good care of Bucky, Mark!

Another option: a treat after the medicine, 'cause it takes the
medicine taste out of the mouth.

And yet another: Pill Pockets! I've Gotten Religion about them, and I
feel the need to proselytize about them here. Licky actually looks
forward to getting his medicine! I hope I never have to pill another
cat - just give them a treat instead.

Unfortunately they don't work for every cat. Two of mine are not
faked-out by the Pill Pockets at all. The third will happily snarf
down anything I can give her with a Pill Pocket wrapped around it. I
think that's great since she is the mean one of the bunch. So we get
pills and Pill Pockets for one and liquid meds with treats afterwards
for the other two.

Yeah, I wonder if my other two would fall for it. It's kind of funny
that Licky does. He loves them, though, and will happily chow down on
his medicine. (He's done with meds now, though!)
