With my mum I think she was numb after the initial shock (my dad wasn't in good health but his death was sudden) right up until the hearse with the coffin arrived on the day of the funeral. Ten minutes before she was telling me I had to be brave when the coffin arrived but as it arrived she just buckled at the knees, afterwards she said that just brought it home finally- that this wasn't all some bad dream. I remember the day after he died, she suddenly burst into tears through and all she kept saying was "I want" and we were all hugging her and saying things like "Yes we know you want dad back so do we" but when she finally got herself a bit more under control she said "No!
