I have been feeding this to my cats for years. NONE of the Hills
products was recalled, and it really does seem to be beneficial.

Wellllll, Excuse me. You're right, they weren't on a recall list they
voluntarily recalled the food:
BALTIMORE (Map, News) - As the melamine purge sweeps the pet food
industry, Hills Pet Nutrition Inc., makers of Science Diet, issued a
recall of a single product: Prescription Diet m/d Feline Dry Food.
The Food and Drug Administration detected melamine and melamine
byproducts in wheat gluten received by the company to make dry cat
food. The FDA is conducting an investigation into pet food products
made with wheat gluten tha contains the toxin melamine and their
association with reports of injury and deaths in cats and dogs.
And as I mentioned, I couldn't remember the exact reason why my vet
didn't want my healthy cats eating the C/D but she definitely didn't
want them eating the food. A Google search found the following on
Hill Science Diet website:

"Healthy Pets
Before the clinical signs of kidney disease or hypertension appear, it
would be medically prudent for healthy adult pets to avoid excess
dietary sodium intake.
Diseased Pets
Due to the causal relationship between high dietary sodium,
hypertension and certain diseases, restricted levels of dietary sodium
are recommended for pets affected by, or prone to, kidney, heart or
endocrine disease."
From what I can find the Hill's C/D is lower in sodium than other
urinary track type foods but still a high sodium food. I almost
included a disclaimer on my post to Joyce that I wasn't a vet nor had
I stayed at Holiday Inn Express last night, but I knew it wouldn't be
necessary with her. I should have known someone wouldn't like what I
had to say.

Is m/d the same as c/d? I know Persia's x/d wasn't recalled, voluntarily or
otherwise.
