Syl - 27 Feb 2008 04:13 GMT Hi, I am Syl. I am a B/W kept inside the little condo of my Mom and her family's. She adores me to the death and often gets too much and I run away. It got to be obvious that I am the second generation with this name, and my Mom lost the kittie who lived for over 18 years with her about a couple of years ago. He and I obviously share the same name. He is the first, I am the second. Compared to the first Syl, I am pretty mischievous and active. First one obviously had a heart ailment of some kind and I am quite a healthy cat here. I am nearly 6 months old and I am afraid that the old Vet of mine is going to get me under spells to give me some kind of procedure to "fix" me. Man, that is not fun.
Well, this is the first post and I just wanted to say Hi. Nice to see you all, people and the kitties on the globe. I am writing from Japan. Hey, I am in the back of earth that you are walking on, perhaps. :-)
Matthew - 27 Feb 2008 04:29 GMT Welcome
My name is Matthew I am owned by 5 furballs ranging from 2 years up to thirteen

Hello from the other side of your earth! Man, you have two kitties. Sounds fun to have two little things that give you a wild time!
Matthew - 27 Feb 2008 05:10 GMT > Hi, Matthew. Hello from the other side of your earth! > Man, you have two kitties. Sounds fun to have two little things that > give you a wild time! I actually have five who range from 2 years old to thriteen years of their names are limo, ka'shay, dumplin, Phantom, and Rumble
there was 6 but my furball named Spirit passed over the rainbow bridge on 1-29-2008
Syl - 27 Feb 2008 06:10 GMT Sorry to hear about the cats in Heaven. Actually the first kittie of my human owner has passed a couple of years ago. She had her share of despair, but since I came to her, she has been filled with happy smiles. Meow. I am a good kit. :D

I haven't update the pictures I have not had the heart since my furball passed to go thru the pictures
Syl - 27 Feb 2008 06:15 GMT Matthew, my human owner is amazed to find out the B/W cat on the photo bucket looks exactly like me, Syl. She says that the little mustache on his nose also looks like mine and I am an exact copy of yours. I know what you mean by you cannot go through it by looking at the photos of your passed kitty. Just think that GOD is with him and he is in Heaven. Well-taken care of. (;_;) => This is a crying face in Japanese. Please know that my owner, K8, has been there where you are. He is meeting my bro who passed on 2 years ago in the Heaven and he is having a good time there!

Hi Syl and Syl's "staff" :) I'm Jill and my lovely grey furball is Persia. I am also owned by a Fisher lovebird named Peaches. We make our home in west Tennessee, USA, although I'm temporarily residing in South Carolina. Welcome to the group! Lots of great kitties and people here.
Just a hint for posting (I see you're posting via Google Groups): quote (leave in) some, if not all of the post you reply to. Some news servers drop posts after X number of days. A reply that doesn't contain at least part of the original post can be very confusing to someone who wanders in later; they'll have no idea who or what you're replying to!

============================================== Another hint: leave in the attributions (that is, the names of the people you are quoting) like I left in:
That way no one can ever accuse you of misquoting something they said. Doesn't really happen on this newsgroup but in many others you'd be crucified if you left out the proper attributions.

Heh. I'm doing pretty well. I haven't seen my critters in a month :( They are being boarded back home in TN while I'm in SC for an indeterminate period of time. But I call every couple of days to make sure someone gives Persia extra scritches for me :) They adore her. Having a small parrot boarding there is something of a novelty (there's an avian vet on call) so they all stop in to see Peaches.

I see. You must miss your critter babes. If my Mom were away from me for a lot of time, she will be amazed how big I get. I already weigh 9 lbs or so at my age of 6 months. As a Japanese kitty I am huge. :-) My Daddy kitty is a rescrued kitty and nicknamed Buddha, and the reason is obviously his size and he weighs over 40 lbs. He is as b/w as I am but my critter-Mom is a Persian kitty, also rescued, so I have a little softer hair. :D My critter parents had me and other brothers and sisters -5 siblings- at the resue station for kitties. I was the last one to be given. But I got the luckiest because my Mom loves me to death and gives me food and a roof over my head!!!

> Stormmee, hello! Meow! :-) Syl - 27 Feb 2008 14:54 GMT Yo, Granby. Somehow the cats in overseas speak with airs through their incisors. I speak both in Japanese and in English, as my Mommie tends to speak both languages. Oh, guys, you might like the site called Funny Cat Photo.
That is at http://blog.esaba.com/projects/catphotos/catphotos.php?image=1011 We can see lots of strange kitties from all over the world. Man, I love this site. Enjoy.

I saw a "Dude, wait - what?" clone kitty (except this kitten was white, but I swear, he/she had the exact same expression), and I saw a bunch of stacked white cats that were cleverly Photoshopped together (very funny), plus lots more. There are LOLCats, and other are just cute or funny.

Yep, my Mom found that site while she was Google-ing. I think she likes doing business with Google people. :D There are lots of kitties whom the owners taken photo of and they look cute and beautiful and actively playful. I see them on the desktop and I say meow-hello to them.

My Mom tries to do it on me and I basically refuse. I hate it when she tries to polish my meowy incisors with towels that have some softie somethin' that old Vet man gave her. My Mom gets all the things he says to her, I bite the hell out of that man.

>> I have said mew to my family of kitties, and now I have to go brush their >> teeth. [quoted text clipped - 6 lines] > gave her. My Mom gets all the things he says to her, I bite the hell > out of that man. Hi Syl I just give my four the poultry toothpaste and try and brush them with my fingers. They don't like the rubber tooth thingy I got from the vet, but I asked him and your Mom can just give you some of the toothpaste right out of the tube and the enzymes will work to help keep your teeth clean. My oldest Cat Mosey had to have 3 and a half fangs taken out last month because his gums were bad and so they did that and he had to take some nasty anti biotic stuff for the infection. You don't want that, so let your Mom do what the Dr says so you don't have to go thru that. Bad toofies can make you very sick and your Mom loves you. That's why she brushes your teeth. Meow Kyla

My Mom just read this message from you and looked at my fangs. She said, "You are still young, so I think it is a good time you get used to it to start with. I better start doing that, too. I gotta say thanks to Kyla the lady love for kitties in the world."
I am having teething time and she rubs my gums it feels great. But I am sure I will get to hate it as I grow. Ha. Thanks, Kyla, though, because it is a good thing for my health.

Oh, you're a sweet kitty. And your Mom loves you and wants you to be healthy too. You will love having your gums still rubbed as you get older. Mosey is almost 6 years old, and he loves to have his gums rubbed. Tell your Mom she can e-mail me and I will send her a picture of me if she wants one.
It's time for me to go to sleep for the night. But first I have to play with my 4 cats or they will be mad at me. They want their catnip too. Good night Sweet dreams, sweet Cat Love Kyla

There are a lot of black and white tuxedo kitties in here as well as tons of black and white ones. We have several members on your side of the globe. You'll be much happier after TED fixes what isn't broken and you can relax around the girls. You also won't have to fight with the toms. There are many advantages to being a Tim. Please ask your meowmie to post herself and, if she has any, pictures are always welcome. Just have her post the website where they are. This is a non picture group but a lot of us post web sites for our kitty pictures. I recently put my latest album on Photobucket and posted the URL here so that everyone can see my eight cats and the flowers that are starting to bloom in my yard as well.

It is a great place for a summer break but one is best taken in the late Spring or early Autumn as the Summer is too darn hot!
Us meowy cats need more shades for resting, though. Sounds like a hot place...
We have lots of shady places. The coolest places though is sleeping on the bed while the air conditioner is on!

Lucky me! Hmmmm, now Sly do you INSIST on sleeping on Mom's side if the bed wether she's in it or not? And do you pretend that you can't be woken up when she asks you to move over so she can claim her side? Or do you have her trained to just go over to the other side and leave you alone to continue your snooze? Or do you allow her to get into HER bed on HER side and then reclaim your space except that now you are sleeping on top of her???
I confess that my cats do all of the above!

I do not insist on it. My Mom INSISTS on that. But I lately INSIST on laying on the bed at her foot. She has a hot water bottle near her foot and the bed is warm with the bottle at around her bed time, so I go climb on her bed before the bed time to do some serious zzz-ing.
I do have a bad habit of sleeping on her pillow by laying my head on it like all Hoomins do. My Mom has a couple of nice soft pillows that I love to lay my head on. But the two on one pillow is too much and my Mom complains often.
I hardly go on top of her unless I wanna wake her up and feed me. I often jump on top of her in search of my precious food at 3am when she is sleeping. She complains worse when I do this but she listens. :D
I basically trained her to wake at around 2 to 3am and feed me. Yeah, I have fun. :>

She was professionally cute!) until about 2am when she'd decided to stretch....many's the night on our 4 feet 6 double, each of us would be balanced on about 3 inches at the edges while she took over the rest of the bed!

Abby is a girl also??? Hey, I say hello to all the mewie beauties there! Samwise sounds wise, man. My Mom says Connecticut is a little cold right now. Is it for real? She used to live in the South and she says she is going to freeze to visit up North. :D Have a warm snuggly night over there with kittie furs cuddling around you, Ann!!!
Ann - 28 Feb 2008 01:57 GMT Cinnamon and Abby are girls. Samwise is a boy, rescued from my back yard. My husband named him after Samwise from the lord of the rings. Samwise lives up to his name always ready to eat, like the hobbits in the story.
Yes, it is cold here. Monday it was about 40 degrees, and that was warm for this time of year. We could get snow Friday night.

>> Welcome to the group. I live in Connecticut USA. I have 3 cats, Cinnamon, >> Abby and Samwise. [quoted text clipped - 9 lines] > Have a warm snuggly night over there with kittie furs cuddling around > you, Ann!!! Syl - 28 Feb 2008 02:18 GMT Hi, Ann. Thanks for the input. Okay, I get meowy forgetful of the kitties introduced as we have so many kitties around here online that I get confused. Ha, ha, ha. :>
>>Cinnamon and Abby are girls. Samwise is a boy, rescued from my back yard. Actually I was a rescued kittie's third son. My daddy is a huge 30 lbs BW kittie. He was a stray with a pregnant Persia girlfriend who is my birth mom. She was okay until she got tired of playing with all of us 6 kittens, so my hoomin rescurers decided to give away. I got to be given to a very nice lady with too much dependency on kitties. I get mentally tired because she likes to hold me too much too often! Meow!
>>My husband named him after Samwise from the lord of the rings. Samwise lives up to his name always ready to eat, like the hobbits in the story. Sounds like a meowy wise kittie, who never forgets to eat. I am also a wild cat who likes wilder play and wilder way of munching on food. I eat anything, by the way, since my stray parents ate almost anything to live on. Got the education inside the Persia mom's tummy.
>>Yes, it is cold here. Monday it was about 40 degrees, and that was warm for this time of year. We could get snow Friday night. Yikes, it sounds freezing. But you enjoy the night with kittie company in your bed, right? I keep company to my hoomin Mom in her nice fluffy bed. :D Lucky cat I am!
Granby - 28 Feb 2008 03:24 GMT When I first came here, I tried to make a list of what cats belong to which people, rather people belonged to which cats. Anyway gave up and now just ask Lee. She remembers all that sort of thing.

I have two cats, Pickle & Suki, a husband, and a young son, who is nearly 4. Shmoggleberry died last year as a result of kidney failure, but still gets mentioned alot as he had such an extraordinary personality.
I used to post alot more before I had my son, but now don't have as much time. I still try to read as much as I can.
Welcome!

Syl - 28 Feb 2008 02:11 GMT Hey, Yowie.
Thanks for stopping by and welcome back online. Well, I am still a beginner and may ask you questions meow to meow a lot.
>>Shmoggleberry died last year as a result of kidney failure, but still gets mentioned alot as he had such an extraordinary personality. My Mom says that Syl I [the one who died 2 years ago] also died of kidney failure. He was 18. It was about his time to go, but he was also a great kittie who gave a wonderful company to my Mommie. I am working meowy hard to give company to my Mommie. :)
>>I used to post alot more before I had my son, but now don't have as much time. I still try to read as much as I can. I bet it is a busy time. I am thankful that you stopped by. It is so neat to talk to someone in Australia. :D

miranda is the russian blue, caliban the brown tabby. i used to have two b-w cats, just like you, who were called frank and nikki. they both passed in 2005, nikki was almost 17 and frank had just turned 18. i compiled an album with pictures of them at

>>there are lots and lots of pictures of them in my photobucket account. Hey I saw them beautiful kitties. Kittie friends are great to snuggle with in the midnight. My Mommie always does that. :D

Marina, my hoomin Mom also had a kittie who died on her 2 years ago, and when he died of acute kidney failure, he did not show any chance of death in the morning when my Mom left for work, so she found him dead at home when she came back home with little kitty snacks in bag. It was terrible for her and she still remembers about Syl I and gets to cry. But now she has me, Syl II. And I get to help her all the time and holds her when she needs some hug. :D
I am sure your kitties do the same. Two kitties who passed went to Heaven and I am sure my bro Syl I met with Frankie and Nikki. :D
Cantate - 28 Feb 2008 05:35 GMT Hi Syl, I'm in Tokyo as well, on the west side. We had terrible dust storms last weekend, didn't we? My black-and-white cat Cherry was a brown cat! I have four inside cats, Cherry, Emma, Jona and Paulette, and one outside "noraneko" named Romeo.
(In case all you who see this wonder what I've been doing-- I have had a lot of things to deal with, like going back to the States to put my Mom in an assisted living center, then I had a bad cold for a long time, and I have also been trying to spend more time off the computer than on. But I still read and think of all of you.)

Stormmee - 28 Feb 2008 05:34 GMT glad to see you post, wasn't cherry the cat that went missing for so long? Lee trying to remember,

Stormmee - 28 Feb 2008 05:38 GMT I am very sorry, Lee
> No, that was Chibi, still MIA. :( > Cantate Syl - 28 Feb 2008 06:30 GMT Hi, Cantate. Did Cherry get rid of the brown mess from her coat??? You have 4 inside kitties, that sounds great. Noraneko Romeo sounds like a stray Tom Cat on street. Does he come to your place to get a little bit of food often???
Well, when I get "fixed", I will definitely not going out alone, so my hoomin Mom is gonna be even more overprotective. Hmm. :(
>>(In case all you who see this wonder what I've been doing-- I have had a lot of things to deal with, like going back to the States to put my Mom in an assisted living center, then I had a bad cold for a long time, and I have also been trying to spend more time off the computer than on. But I still read and think of all of you.) Cantate, my hoomin Mommie is also taking care of her Mom. I call her a Great Mommie, and she loves me and pets me a lot. She thinks she gets encouraged by me on her shoulder, so I often go get held by her. Did you get over a bad cold??? Nowadays in Japan they say bad flus as well as acute measles are going around. Better careful than getting sorry later on. I think staying and sitting back at home is a right thing.
Being off computer is a good thing, too. My Mommie goes around town walking with a pedometer. While she is gone, I warm the knees of my hoomin Great Mommie and Poppie.
Take it easy, Cantate. Thanks for letting us know how you have been.
Cantate - 28 Feb 2008 08:04 GMT Hi Syl, Does your hoomin Mommie have as much trouble figuring Japanese tax as I do? I hope you distract her by purring and playing with her papers! Paulette doesn't think Mommie should be doing anything with papers when there is a cat who needs attention!
Cantate
Syl - 28 Feb 2008 08:53 GMT Cantate, my lady!
>>Does your hoomin Mommie have as much trouble figuring Japanese tax as I do? I hope you distract her by purring and playing with her papers! My hoomin Mommie is rigid on papers and forms! If I dare to even paw a little on those papers... she gives me HELL. Well, Cantate, as a result, I don't think my hoomin Mom likes that statement to make trouble on her. :( She will give me a tough time, man. Pleeeeeaaaaazzzzze.

Syl - 02 Mar 2008 03:22 GMT Hi, Sam:

Thanks for the message. My Mom has a friend who is teaching at college some English and she is from Seattle, come to think of it. Mistletoe sounds like a beautiful name and I bet to you that she is precious to you guys. I, Syl the kittie, am a precious little baby for my Mom, see. :D Rex sounds like a cute pup. My Mom used to have a very old doggie lady also, but she died of old age [23 years old at the time of her death]. Mom of course was heartbroken for a while. See, she lost a cat and a dog in 2 years. Both were older, sure, but she was very heartbroken and sad for a while. Now that I am beside her and entertaining her, she is no longer a sad lady. :>
ChildFree23 - 02 Mar 2008 17:37 GMT Hello Syl! <extends fingers for inspection>
My name is Debby, and I live with three cats: Kitty Schottland, age 18; Lilith Kitten-Mahoney, age 7; and Cousin Rosco, age 3.
You might want to check out the newsgroup rec.pets.cats.community -- there are lots of kitties who "meow-chat" there. You'll make new friends in no time! And you can attend Kitty Schottland's upcoming wedwink (meow-chat for wedding) to Lewi.
