tanadashoes - 24 Feb 2008 17:34 GMT Sit back kits and you'll read a tail A tail of a pirate ship That started from some southern port With fees paid in catnip.
The Cap'n was an insane cat To want to go to sea He gathered cats of like mind And did not charge a fee
They chose hoomin slaves with due care Those too dumb to get out Someone has to open tins and take the litter out.
Every year about this time Pine Cone calls his crew To help prepare their pirate ship To set sail on their cruise.
So kits if you are of a mind To help make history Respond to the call for Mouser cats Here on RPC. . .A

Ok not one of my better efforts, but I ported over to check out the Mouser at the dry dock and She is in pretty good shape for a ship that didn't sail last year. She needs only minor repairs and some cleaning and we'll be set to go. Last year we had to cancel due to PawRob being in poor health, but he's in fine fettle now and says that he'll be glad to help fish, so long as you cats are kinder with the bait bucket than you have been in the past. The fat wench is going over her book where she wrote down some of our favorite gooshy food recipes. Tanada is keeping a close eye on tfw as the fat wench hates the smell of fish. The blonde wenche and Gem are signing to come aboard again and we are in the process of contacting other hoomins to see if they are interested. Mike and his buddy, Jason, are working it into their schedules. I'll let them ask their friend what the fat wench calls "major payne" if he wants to be a part of it. Both Jason and payne are busy with what the fat wench calls war sh*t. It was how PawRob made tuna money. I dunno how much they will be able to join us.
So any cats for the crew? All positions are open except for Sergeant of Marines (first sergeant Huey), Kit Leader (Tanada, brrrrr) and, of course, my position as Cap'n. We also could use hoomin crew members and chroniclers to keep us on course. Plans include our shore leave on D*g Island and a visit to Finland to hold our annual memorial service on FrankinNikki's Island. Other than that we will consider reasonable requests from the hair ball gallery. I'm hoping that the Beauteous Chloe from Australia will join us as she has in the past.
I'm hoping that you can join us too.

"Got out of town on a boat for the southern islands On a reach before a following sea We were making for the trades on the outside And the downhill run to Papeete
Off the wind on this heading lie the Marquesas We got eighty feet of waterline nicely making way In a noisy bar in Avalon I tried to call you But on the midnight watch I realized why twice you ran away"
If you don't recognize it, it's "Southern Cross" by Rick Curtis, Michael Curtis, and Stephen Stills and recorded by Crosby, Stills and Nash
I only put in the nautical lyrics

Lady Pandora will be his assistant as she is also his wink wink. Miss Lily Whiskers has permission from HRFL Tiger to come aboard, providing she behaves and she will be allowed to join the 05 Hoolikitten cadre as ship crew with Qui Gun Kit.
Cleo has elected to stay at home with Robbie as her nerves aren't up to a prolonged Sea Voyage and Robbie is feeling his age so will ghost over to give the kits their ninja lessons on a Tuesday and a Thursday.
I'll be on the ship this year!

Stinky reporting for SeniorCat and piano playing duty. There's some other pest here, too, he's a huge doofus, but he still thinks he's a kitten. One of that silly 2005 bunch, I believe. Maybe you can find him something to make him useful.

He's sick and tired of the barekitten and wishes to leave home until she's old enough to understand that sneaking up on a sleeping His Felineship (she's commando crawling) is Just Not Funny! He's also unamused that she refuses to bow to him when it comes to Ownership of The Cot. It is, apparently, *his* cot, and the fact that The Critter (a.k.a. the barekitten) sleeps in it several times each day is Offensive!
Persephone won't be joining the crew this year as she's having too much fun training the barekitten in the etiquette of B*stard Cat and Kid Tricks (e.g. sneaking up on sleeping Spocky-cats or Foxie-d*gs!).

Marina - 25 Feb 2008 05:47 GMT > I'm hoping that you can join us too. > > Reply requested > > Cap'n Pine Cone esq. we would like to join the ship's crew from our island when you reach it. miranda would like to continue as lookout, since she has purrfected her climbing skills during the past years. caliban would like to be in charge of the food stores, but i don't know if that is a good idea. he is good at washing, which miranda can attest to, with slimy fur standing up in clumps where he licked her the wrong way, so maybe he could swab the decks.
be prepared to meet the ghosts of frank and nikki on the island. they are still looking for the correct map, you know.

jofirey - 25 Feb 2008 18:31 GMT I just saw Molly and Jake headed down the road with their hobo packs over their shoulders. I'm guessing they heard the call for sailors, and the open sea.
Since we have not one, but two Chihuahua puppies in residence for the day, I can't say I blame them.
Daughter has added a twelve week old pup to her clan, and its here for the day for daycare along with its older sister Camille. Her name is Bailey. She is the first dog ever to show submission to Kayla. I suspect that's a very good thing because the rest of the time she spends trying to steal Kayla's tennis ball.

Oh, Cap'n, my Cap'n! Can I pu-leeze come on this year's journey? Anything to get away from that d*mned d*g. I'll scrub the bilges or do whatever else is needed. D*g (Rex) is just too bouncy for me. He wants to play and I don't wanna. His antics are eatin' far too much into my nappy time.

Mischief - 28 Feb 2008 00:25 GMT Mischief, Mayhem and Imp reporting for DUTY!
And they would like to remind you not to forget the trip to the OTHER island. Ya know the only they took shore leave on? Where everyone mounted an expedition to the top of Mt. Wannahockafurball? Qui Gon Kit remembers it well too, he was trying to get a nose kiss to Miss Lily Whiskers when a crab clamped onto his tail.....

Right, D*g Island. It's in our plans. If we're lucky, Qui Gun will finally get to touch noses with Miss LilyWhiskers.

GaDragonfly - 28 Feb 2008 05:08 GMT Cap'n Pine Cone, Sir, all of the Cook Cats from Georgia would like to join the expedition again this year.
Hobbes still swears he had nothing to do with the tradition of bate bucket tipping but regardless, he's slowed down over the years and says he'd like to help navigate on the late night shift because laying on the deck watching stars in the evening is right up his alley.
Sam says he likes security patrols and I'd suggest that he be put on night patrol except that he likes to sneak up on Hobbes and bite him in the butt, so if Hobbes is lying on the deck watching stars it might be too tempting for Sam to pass up and then you'd have a hissy, spitty male cat standoff on deck...well, kind of like we have around here every night. I don't understand it. They don't mind eating side by side or sleeping near each other. It is so hard being the only feline female in the house <sigh>. We'll let you know for sure if Sam can come after he's had his 6 month xray next week. If he isn't showing any signs of recurrent cancer then he gets to go. I'll make sure Hobbes and Sam have all of their medicine packed. Sam doesn't like to take his asthma medicine so it might take a hooman to administer that but Hobbes doesn't mind getting insulin shots and he gets some sort of powder put in his food to help with his joint stiffness. TAhem, Lacey, that will be enough about me and Hobbes, young she-cat. Ummm, Capt. PineCone, I would like to join the Mouser this year and willing to port on down and being swabbing decks. I would expecially enjoy working in security. I still have fond memories of my first voyage when Rocky was Head of Security and he and I would swagger around the ship keeping the kits in line and drinking catnip tea and telling lies about all of our adventures. Stray tom cats have a lot of lies...er I mean stories to tell, even if they aren't Tom's any longer. But since Rocky is gone, maybe you could assign me a new partner. Ummm, maybe young Missy, errr, I mean Miss Mistletoe <blush> would agree to accept an assignment with an old, broken down ex-tom with a gentle nature. I'd treat her like a lady cat she is and be the perfect gentleman, if she'd agree to be paired with me on this journey. I'd really like to get to know her better. If she'd let me. Do you think she might?
This is my email Sam. You go write your own. Lacey back now, Capn Pine Cone and Barnabus, Hoolicat Class of 2006, would like be assigned look out duty with Miranda but I'm not sure how much looking out would get done. You might want to make note in the ship's log that my hoomans suspect that Barnabus has somewhat of a mental problem. Actually, they say he's plumb crazy. Tonight he was lying on the couch next to Mom and suddenly he attacked his back paw. He was curled up in a little black furry ball frantically biting and growling at his back paw and he rolled off the couch! I was lying nearby, resting my eyes and the next thing I knew he'd slapped me and run off to the back of the house. He tried to climb the bedpost and then he came back and layed on the arm of the couch watching television Howard Hughes Modern Miracles on History Channel for and entire hour. Then he watched American Idol! He said he can't leave for the Mouser before the Master's because he loves golf and the best birds all attend the Master's. He likes to sit and watch the golfers and listen to the birds. Of course he also enjoys the latest Mummy movies. The scarabs are his favorite part. He loves car races as well. NASCAR is fun but F1 is the best, they make noises that tickle his ears. See he's crazy!
I would like to join the crew as well. I really enjoyed getting to go site seeing in the bill of a pelican my first year. That was fun and riding dolphins bare back is fun until they go underwater and you get your fur all wet! I rode a dolphin named Kibbie and he told me he had ridden in a firey boat and brought back from another place that had dangerous things called Thread and he has a lot of interesting stories to tell but he's also well educated in medicine. He told me once that if any of our feline or hooman mates have a growth they can put the patient in the water and let him swim with the dolphins and they can diagnose the problem. They can even determine if a creature is pregnant. That might come in handy," Lacey says with a scowl toward Barnabus who responds with all innocents, "Not me, I don't know nothing bout making no babies". and he scurries off in search of a television. Maybe I could be assigned dolphin translator because, well, no one's ever wanted to pair up with me when we go to Dog Mountain or Miranda and Caliban's island and at 9 years old I'm not exactly as enticing as the younger kits. I think I'd enjoy just spending time talking to Kibbie and reading to him some of our history books. For some reason he wasn't here during parts of our lifes. I'm not sure how old he is, dolphins age differently you know, but he seems to have years of experience but only knowledge of a place called Pern. Perhaps we could visit this Pern if we knew how to get there.
Well, that's us. Selena won't be back again. She went to sleep one night and decided to cross over the Bridge and wait for Meowm and Paw over there. I'm not sure why but she didn't tell any of us what she had planned so we had to just accept it. huh? What," glancing over each shoulder she tried to find who was whispering in a Selena whisper. She heard "Put me on the island near my friends Frankie and Nickie and I'll rest in peace" Lacey looks around and wonders who's whispering in her ear then walks off to contemplate what she heard. Totally forgettting she was talking to Pine Cone.
Respectfully submitted, Lacey, Queen Vicious Samuel R. Thunderpaws, Conqueror of Crabs Hobbes, cause he looks like a Hobbes Cat and Barnabus, Class of 2006
Ann - 28 Feb 2008 14:53 GMT I've been reading books about Pern, too.

If both are no, then we'll get along fine. It would be really nice to have an experienced pirate - er gentleman cat to show me around. The blasted D-thing here is driving me crazee what with his bouncing around and wanting to *play*. Doan he know cats and d*gs aren't s'posed to play together? Of course he's settled down considerably since 3 or 4 whaps on his nose with claws out. But I still want a vaca-shun.
Looking fur-ward to it, Mistletoe
