There isn't much of anything near Wells Nevada.  A 6.0 is pretty big and
Wells is way east of the usual fault lines.  Wonder if it shook Reno?

Guess I should be watching the new a little bit.  We are a days drive west
of that.

TuTu, sweetie, we are sending you calming purrs for you, your Mommy, AND
your local topography.

TuTu says thanks.  She awakened me about 6;15 AM but I didn't feel
anything and was unaware until I saw it on the news.  The house creeks a
lot lately but I attribute it to the very cold weather.   MLB

My youngest grandson just called to say that he really felt the quake.
He was at work on the 6th floor and it really shook that (brand NEW)
building.  MLB

Engineering guidelines for earthquake safe buildings allow then to sway
without breaking.

Unfortunately humans haven't been reengineered to accept rocking buildings
with anything approaching calm.

You know it was a good hard quake when it rocked things from Salt Lake to
Reno.

shaking anyway but then THIS  happened:  this too scared the contents of the

Husband & I were woken by it, even though we are *miles* from the epicentre.

Waffles remained stuck to me, limpit-like, for the remainder of the night.
The boy cats were utterly unfazed by it.
Low but loud rumbles, shaking & noise from stuff in house moving. I
immediately turned the TV on to see if there was any news as I wondered if
it was another Buncefield - as the noise from that explosion woke me in a
similar fashion.

We're fine, thanks. The magnitude of the quake was low and we're far enough
away for it not to cause anything other than sleep disturbance and minor
excitement :)
