Just a bit of MaMere boasting - my granddaughter, Alexis, is in a high
school cheering squad and they just won Nationals.  Alexis is a "flier" and
was the only one from her team asked to be in the National All Stars Squad
again this year.  Here's snippet of her practicing her "stunting" (obviously
she's the one flying up into the air):

I am sure there is a law in Catdom that Grandmas have bragging rites.  That
was great.

Thank you!

I'm sure that cats would understand - they are the best mothers in the

Thanks Annie.  Watching that makes me both proud and a bit nervous (what if
they DROP her??!)  ;>

Well, that settles it, Lori.  You are really an adult.  I've noticed in my
own life that is a major dividing line between childhood and adulthood.
When I was a kid, I flung my body all over the place without thinking about
it.  I can't pinpoint it exactly, but at some point, I started thinking
"Erm, what if I fall and break something?"  and that was it.  Not only that,
but in general, children seem to have some miraculous protection from
bashing themselves to smithereens.  You know this HAS to be true, because
otherwise, all adults would be in wheelchairs. ;)

My theory is that all children are made of rubber for their first 15 years!

Hearty congrats, Lori; you have a right to brag, IMHO. Those kids have
that
array of gymnastic shows down to a high science, and Texas has a name
for producing outstanding shows, don't know if they're from LA or Tx.
BTW, Theresa, what you said is *exactly* the reason I will never be a
skiier and stick to snowshoeing.....at some magic or evil (depending
on
how you look at it) time in one's life, all you can think of is how
much
stuff on your body you could break, especially if you worked on broken
bones for 30 years, LOL. You gotta start young.

She's in LA.  Another reason I find it so amazing is that there is only the
one high school (and only two schools) open in St. Bernard parish (ground
zero for Katrina).  They had to make it from 7th to 12th grade.  Alexis is
the only 8th grader on a *high* school squad and she still manages to
outshine her older team mates!  (OK that was a *WAY* over the top brag, but
hey, she deserves it!)

She'd probably land on her feet. :-)

LOL!  Yep, although my daughter seems to take it in stride (but then she's
herself into sports and jet-skiing - they're a very athletic family '>).

Thanks!  MaMere is a bit less trusting though, thus the new gray hairs!  ;>

I will, Sam.  BTW she still remembers you and your gift after Katrina and
she still plays it daily and thinks of you when she does - the results of
your kindness will live on through another generation or two for sure!
