Marina - 21 Feb 2008 03:52 GMT mir has not been eating properly these last few days. it's not uncommon for her. she doesn't care much for food at best, so it's hard to tell if she's really off her food or just being her usual not-interested-in-food self. i'm going to ring the vet today, maybe i can get an appointment.
i've given her nutro-plus gel, which she always laps up enthusiastically. she's also had some yogurt. it might be something with her teeth, though she hasn't had a problem with them before.
Signature Marina, Miranda and Caliban. In loving memory of Frank and Nikki.
STEELER - 21 Feb 2008 04:52 GMT When my little Alice Cooper was fixed and she came home she decided to not eat. I started to give her PediaSure using an eyedropper. that picked her up after a couple of days.

Purrs for your Mir are on the way.

Marina - 21 Feb 2008 14:03 GMT thanks for all the purrs. we just got back from the vet. they sedated her to check her mouth, took some blood, and cleaned her teeth since she was already sedated, though the vet said her teeth only had a little tartar, not enough to make her stop eating.
there's nothing much wrong with her, except her tonsils are a bit red and there are some small lesions in her soft palate. her white bloodcells are a bit low. apparently a virus. they took samples to test for herpes and calici virus, but the vet thought it may be any other virus and she should be fine inside a week. i got a course of roferon to give her.
all her other tests showed she is in excellent condition and is getting all the nutrients she needs from her diet of raw meat. *smile*
poor mir-mir is staggering around like a drunk. so undignified. caliban is terrified of her - or the vet smell off her.

I must have missed your earlier post before, because I only saw the responses to it today. That's better for me, because I don't have to wait in suspense, wondering what could be wrong with her. Everett sends belated loud-kitten purrs for Mir to feel better soon! (The others chime in, too, of course - but you should hear him go when he's really cuddly.)
> poor mir-mir is staggering around like a drunk. so undignified. caliban > is terrified of her - or the vet smell off her. LOL. Or he's just weirded out by her odd behavior. As Theresa said, what a wuss! :)

Just read the thread. I guess mir has a sore throat, poor girl. Hope the rest of the tests come out good ans she is fine in a day or so.

In loving memory of Frank and Nikki. Miranda! My beautiful wink wink, I am so going to scratch Meowmy for not checking the newsgroups in the last few days. She says she's had a cold and didn't want to get online. If she's cold she can wrap up in a blanket but she has to send my purrs and headbutts to by beautiful wink wink. I wouldn't be afraid of you my loverly, I wouldn't be afraid of the way you smell either. I will port over there this very night and curl around you and help you to feel better. Headbutts and purrs on the way from me and my fursibs as well for Autie Marina's poor hand.

Marina - 25 Feb 2008 16:44 GMT > I hope she is feeling better. Poor baby! she has been amazing since she came off the sedation. she is begging for food before mealtime, she is wolfing it down, and in addition, she's been super-affectionate since we got home. she didn't eat all of her dinner on saturday evening, and i was afraid she'd go back to not eating, but she's eaten every meal since then.

Marina - 27 Feb 2008 04:36 GMT the vet rang me with the results of miranda's herpes and calici tests. all negative. yay. she's fine. she's been eating like a horse, anyway, since she came off the sedation. very uncharacteristic for her, but it sure makes meowmie happy. she even took a long nap on my arm yesterday. very rare, too. i felt so honoured.

Jake has offered to share one of his nice big freshly minced prawns if that would pique Miranda's appetite.
And he doesn't share them with just anyone.
