Meg is very ill - she has acute kidney failure. It's been very quick - she stopped eating last night and Scott took her to the vet this morning. They took her up to the animal hospital for blood tests and the results are off the scales. Scott's picking her up this afternoon so she can spend one last night at home, and then we've got to take her to the vet in the morning for our final act of kindness. Love sometimes leads to very hard decisions. She is either going on an adventure none of us can imagine or she is going to the Bridge we know of in our hearts. Unfortunately, with kidney failure (in people as well as cats) a LOT of kidney function is lost before you feel ill. And we all know how cats will hide their illnesses from us :-( Purrs are on the way for Meg to have an easy trip to the Bridge, and for your broken heart. How terrible to have this happen with no warning at all, and no time to 'get ready'. Hope it helps with your losses xx We went this morning - the vet was lovely. He sedated her first so that she went sleepy and so we wouldn't have to restrain her for the injection. She went peacefully with Scott and I stroking her, and Daniel got to stroke her too, though he's still too young to understand (he's only 15mths). We are having her cremated and we are collecting her ashes next week. Got home just as a beautiful bunch of tulips was delivered from her previous owner thanking us for having given her such a good home. Thank you all for the kind words and purrs.
