Our block has 4 "cat houses". 3 are 40ish spinsters and one is a
recently unattached Lesbian. Today, once again, there is a black cat
under our bird feeder, a big yellowish (tabby?) hiding in the boxwood
and spraying almost every day, and a 3-legged black cat snoozing under
my car, also watching our bird feeder occasionally.
We get at least one dead bird a month, left behind by a cat who
doesn't know what to do with its kill and
whose owner won't give it a damn tinklebell collar.
There are 6 "dog houses" on our block and except for occasional early
morning barking, they are barely noticable, and certainly no problem.
f.ck cats and their keepers, at least in this town.

Here's a recipe I have yet to try, but it sounds fabulous!

                     Artichoke-Shrimp Turnovers

These savory one-bite turnovers are great for parties because they can be
prepared ahead of time and baked right before serving. To vary the recipe,
add chopped roasted red bell peppers or pitted Mediterranean olives in place
of the artichoke hearts.

Recipe By: Cooking Pleasures
Serving Size: 24
Cuisine: American
Main Ingredient: Artichoke
Categories: Bake, Shrimp, Garlic, Olive Oil, Hors dOeuvres, Appetizers

-= Ingredients =-
FILLING
2 teaspoons olive oil
2 large garlic cloves ; minced
1/2 lb. shelled ; deveined uncooked small or medium shrimp, chopped
1/2 cup artichoke hearts ; well-drained, chopped
2 tablespoons coarsely chopped fresh basil
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon fennel seeds ; crushed
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
PASTRY
1/2 recipe Puff Pastry

-= Instructions =-
1. Heat oven to 425°F. Line baking sheet with parchment paper. Heat oil in
medium skillet over medium heat until warm. Add garlic; cook 30 seconds or
until fragrant. Add shrimp; cook 30 seconds or until shrimp just begin to
turn slightly pink but are not cooked through (they will continue cooking in
the oven). Place in medium bowl; stir in all remaining filling ingredients.
2. On floured surface, roll half of the puff pastry into 14x10 1/2-inch
square 1/8 inch thick. Cut into 12 (3 1/2-inch) squares, using a sharp knife
and being careful to cut straight down. Place 1 tablespoon filling on one
side of each pastry square; fold pastry over. Press with fork to seal; place
on baking sheet. Repeat with remaining puff pastry and filling. (Turnovers
can be made to this point up to 8 hours ahead. Cover and refrigerate. An
additional 2 minutes baking time may be needed.)
3. Bake 15 minutes or until golden brown.

Potty mouth.

Darn, I don't have my recipes on this PC!  I baked a couple of potatoes last
night and made baked pork chops. I did sort of a homemade "Shake N Bake"
coating; no measuring, just eyeballed things.

Combine plain dry breadcrumbs with a little flour in a large zip-lock bag.
Add salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika and some dried
parsley.  Mix it all up.  Rinse the pork chops under cool water, then place
in the bag of coating (one at a time, I had 4 center cut chops about 1/2
inch thick).  Shake it up until coated.  Place the chops on an ungrease
baking sheet.  Bake at 425F about 15 minutes.  When they're ready you'll be
able to easily poke a fork in the meaty part.

These turned out so well Mom actually ate TWO!  She's skinny as a rail,
literally, so it't gratifying to see her eat :)  But so much for my plan to
have 2 leftover chops to heat up with something else for later in the week
LOL

Thank you for sharing this extremely important information related to
the killing of birds by domestic cats. If the cats were owned by men
or by normal nuclear families or by long-legged, big-titted blonde
20-somethings, I'm sure the birds would be much safer. Let's get the
cats out of the hands of middle-aged spinsters and lesbians, where
they are clearly being trained to kill off the neighborhood's birds,
and probably will go after the human males next.

Hey, this guy tries to be up to the standards of the infamous Muu Muu
man.  I wonder if he also has a diaper fetish website like the Muu Muu
man did.

Definitely a recipe depository.  I have to take Mandy to get her IDs
updated, or I'd dig one up myself.  I'll see what I have after we get
home.

Back.

This recipe is from "Food to Warm the Soul:  by friends of the cancer
center of Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation

I wanted something that our vegans can eat too.

Shredded Zucchini
by Linda Braswell

2-3 small zucchini (about 2 cups shredded)
1 T. olive oil
2-3 garlic cloves minced or pressed
salt and ground black pepper to taste
lemon wedges

Scrub the zucchini an slicee off the ends,.  Shred them on the coarses
side of the hand grater or on the equivalent blade in the food
processor.  Heat the oil in a large skillet and add the zucchini and
garlic.  Saute on medium heat, tossing often, for about five minutes
until the excess moisture has evaporated.  The zucchini should be
bright been and firm-tender.  Add sal and pepper and served garnished
with lemon wedges.

**variations--The flavor of this dish may be varied by adding herbs or
spices of your choice during the last 2 minutes of cooking.  1) For an
Italian version add 1t of chopped fresh basil and a sprinkling of
Parmesan or Romano cheese.  2) For a Greek version, dd 2 t. of chopped
fresh dill and a spprinkling of grated feta cheese, or stirr in 1/4 C
of plain yogurt and 1t. chopped fresh mint.  3) For an Indian version,
substitute vegetable oil for the olive oil and add 1/2 t. of curry
powder (or more to taste. 4) For a Mexican version, add 1/2 t of
ground cumin, a dash of cayenne, and 2 T. of chopped fresh cilantro
and/or serve topped with prepared salsa.

Nope. Not my style and I hope I never ever see a man in a muu muu. My
current interests are mainly music, photography, legs, reiki (without
the mumbo-jumbo) and wildlife (other than cats and snakes), not in
that particular order on any given day.
What are your interests?
The only friend I have who is a cat person was abused terribly, and
her favorite thing to do is work "poopie box" into every conversation.
We don't talk much. I've found that some lower level minds think that
because I have an off-the-wall sense of humor and a brazen streak,
that I would enjoy things that they think are wild such as fart joke
books, and Southern Rock songs whut gots cussin' in 'em.  Nope. Keep
those things on *your* side of the creek.
Anyway, I hope you find your muu muu guy, you seem to miss him pretty
badly.

You are just so cute.  The muu muu man posted drivel like yours and then
forgot to remove his URL for his diaper fetish site.  I think we need bird
oriented recipes for you.  You are just so fowl.  ANY BODY GOT A GOOD SQUAB
RECIPE?  Birdie boy needs them.

Pam S whose cats would like birdie boy's address so they could visit his
relatives

Again this is from Food to Warm the Soul by Friends of the Cancer Center

Carolina Chicken Delight (no squab recipes at hand for the moment)
by Edith Ivey

2 1/2- 3 lb chicken quartered
1 (6 oz) can tomato paste
1/4 c. ketchup
1/4 c. Kraft Italian Dressing
1 tsp A-1 sauce
2 1/4 c Water

Mix all ingredients together and refrigerate overnight.  Salt and pepper
chicken.  Put in sauce pan.  Pour mixture over chicken and cover tightly.
Bake at 375 F. for 1 1/2 - 2 hours. (also good for pork chops so that all of
birdie's boys family is included)

Now I have a question for you.  WHY on earth do you post your garbage in
here when you don't like cats, hate cat people, have nothing of value to
contribute to the world and are a skank to boot?

I used my real name in my original post.
I made my points and then have merely replied to your (and others')
petty and psychosomatic questions.
Why would you say that I am a skank? You are the one who only just now
stopped obsessing over some diaper website.

Here's my simple recipe. If I can make it, anybody can!

a few potatoes
one package frozen corn

casserole dish. Spread frozen corn on top of later of beef. Top with a
layer of mashed potatoes. Bake at 350 for 20-30 minutes.

here's a delicious and very easy recipe i found on bbc food
http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/ just before my operation. i didn't bother to
remove the skins of the tomatoes. what a job that would be if you made
the whole recipe - peel 0.5 kilos of cherry tomatoes. hehehe.

Pasta with tomatoes, capers and mint

Ingredients
4.5 litres/8 pints water
8 tsp salt
400g/14oz dried spaghetti
4 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
2 large garlic cloves, lightly crushed
pinch crushed dried chillies
500g/1lb 2oz small ripe vine or cherry tomatoes, skins removed, roughly
chopped
1 tbsp salted capers, rinsed and drained
2 tsp chopped fresh mint
salt and freshly ground black pepper

Method
1. Place 4.5 litres/8 pints water into a large pan and bring to the
boil. Add the salt, then the spaghetti and cook according to packet
instructions, or until al dente.
2. Meanwhile, heat the oil in a large, deep frying pan. Add the crushed
garlic cloves and fry over a low heat until they start to turn
golden-brown, then remove the garlic and discard.
3. Add the crushed dried chillies and chopped tomatoes and fry for one
minute, until the tomatoes are just starting to release their juice.
4. Add the capers and mint, and season, to taste, with salt and freshly
ground black pepper.
5. Drain the cooked spaghetti and add to the pan. Stir well to coat in
the sauce, spoon equal portions into four bowls and serve.

You obviously attach too much faith to "belling the cat"!  I
gave up on bells after watching too many cats move up on
unsuspecting birds so smoothly that the bell made no sound
until the cat pounced.

Hmm. I didn't realize that. However. such an animal is therefore
"feral" and not a proper pet. Back to the "keep your cat at home"
argument.
