We live in a rather 'snooty' trailer park, for folks age 55+ and my next
door neighbor, Debra,  has a cancer relapse:(  I don't know her very well,
but we've spoken a few times.  IDK what kind of cancer she has, but she is
going thru chemo again.
If you could please say a few prayers on her behalf, it would really be
appreciated.  I don't think she's a Cat person, but that doesn't matter.
What matters is that she's suffering a horrid disease.
Thank you so much

Sending purrrs and prayers from our house. Because she doesn't have a
particular cat to purrr for her is more reason to send all the purrs we can.

Absolutely. Cancer is such a horrid, frightening thing to have to fight.

purrs and healing thoughts and wishes heading out, of course, but
there is a lot YOU can do to help Debra out.  Many of us here have
either been through cancer and/or are caring for someone who is
dealing with it themselves.  One of my husband's oncologists told us
that Cancer actually seems harder on the caregivers than on the person
fighting it, at least mentally.

Does Debra have a caregiver?  If so, can you help the out on occasion,
even if it is to play cards, talk, or just sit with them.  Can you do
that with Debra?  One of the hard parts for Rob is that he lost his
former life with the cancer.  Yesterday while we were waiting to get
our taxes done, he picked up a copy of Army Magazine.  It had a lot of
aviation articles in it and  Rob was in seventh heaven.  He did find a
lot of design problems with the new blackhawk, but then again, no one
listens to the men in the field working with the equipment.  What was
important was that I was there for him to talk about it.  For too many
cancer patients, people leave them.  They can't think about what to
say or do, or deep down inside they are terrified that the cancer is
catching.  Yesterday the army did it's bi-annual evaluation of Rob's
cancer.  While we were waiting for our appointment, the next
appointment came in.  They'd just been diagnosed and were still in
that shell shocked dis-belief stage.  After we were done with the
oncologist, I went back to the waiting room and asked her if I could
give her a hug.  She looked surprised, but said yes.  I gave her the
biggest gentle hug I could and whispered in her ear for her to hang in
there, she can beat the disease and that she is a strong person who
won't fight this alone.

Sometimes just knowing that someone cares about you can make the
difference.  I have a neighbor who sends me stuff on occasion that
makes me laugh.  Jo sends both Rob and I some of the greatest and most
amazing email/web sites that make us laugh, amazes us, and keeps us
from feeling as though we don't exist.  We've also received great
pictures and goodies from others in this group,  Does she have email?
sending her some of the wonderful jokes, pictures, and other things
that we get in our in boxes can make her day.

Will you do me a favor?  Please give her my email address,
tanada@earthlink.net and let her know that we're going through some of
the same stuff that she is.  I'm quite willing to talk to her, send
emails back and forth with her, and am thinking about her and asking
the cats to send their purrs and blessings as well.  She can also get
great support, information, and inspiration from alt.support.cancer.
It is for anyone who is affected by cancer.  There are several people
in this group that I've met on the cancer one.  For those of you
who've been there, Rob still has his Russian hat and wears it when it
is cold out.  The wife of a rather nice and prominent in the green
movement (ecology baby) sent it to Rob after her husband died from
lung cancer caused by second hand smoke.  When  Rob passes, I'll send
it on to another person who needs to keep his/her head warm and know
that someone loves them.  The cats adore the hat and we have to use a
lint brush on it whenever Rob wears it.

Thanks Sam.  Poor Debra, wish there was something I could do for her to help
her feel better.
Cancer is so evil :(
Makes me very sad.
