Do any of your cats like to have their toes manicured? Nikki does - hind
tootsies only please.
If she hears me using an emery board, she comes running to have her hind
claws rubbed a bit.
And if she hears the electric manicure set running, she is SO eager to have
her back claws filed gently.
The very best part seems to be me rubbing the web between the toesies -
kitty bliss.
No - I haven't applied polish yet............Lorna (Chessie & Nikki)
PS - Wish she were this eager to have her claws clipped - she's good about
it but it's not a pleasure.

No kitties in this house have an interest in us doing ANYTHING with or to
their toes with the exception of leaving said toes ALONE! That must be a
really nice feeling experience for both of you.

Jake will go to sleep at night with a paw tucked into one of my hands. And
he lets me rub and play with his feet. Molly has learned that I'm a good
cure for cold toes.
But no nail clipping, etc is allowed. Of course since they both go outside
and are still fairly active their claws don't need clipped anyway. Full
grown maple trees make great scratching posts.

Wait - don't cats use scratching posts, or trees when they can, to
*sharpen* their claws?
Confused...

Cats claws "shed". They use posts or trees to pull the outer dead layers
off. Then the new claw underneath is nice and sharp and not worn down.

OK, but the key word here is still "sharp". They would still need clipping,
at least from your point of view!

I've found when my cats stay in, and especially when they get older and less
active, their claws grow a lot longer. Probably they just don't get worn
down. When they are like that I clip them, otherwise they get caught on
things.

or they do like my nikki used to do - 'bite their nails.' she would put
a claw between her teeth and puuuuuull over and over until the old
sheath came off. she used to look like she was going mad with anxiety,
biting her nails like that.

When I first had Princess (Siamese RB 16) she used to bite her nails. I
was able later on to cut her nails a couple at a time. TuTu will not
allow me to cut her nails. However, she likes me to play with the toes on
her back feet. MLB

Snoopy does that. What I don't like is when she's on my lap and something
startles her, more than once she's leapt off leaving the claw sheath imbeded
in my thigh.

Hah....no way. All they -any one of them - have to see is me with the
special
cat-claw clippers in my hand and in a furry cloud of dust they are all
under
beds hiding from the approaching menace! The only thing that will
generate
more reactions of horror and fear is The Thing That Will Noisily
Consume Us:
the Dyson Animal vac....even before it is plugged in and turned on.
And you can't tell me they can/t/don't communicate between each other
-
the panic spreads from room to room.

mine are not interested in manicures, but i think most cats i've known
have liked to have their toes and especially the 'webbing' rubbed.

My boys both love having their paws massaged-- back and front. But they
HATE having their claws clipped.
