I echo everyone's anger at this type of post, I've been outraged and replied
to them myself but it's better to ignore them.  They are sent to get a
response which the poster gets off on.  Trolling.
No response - no satisfaction - goes away eventually.
I never even read a post that starts with a subject line like that one. I
delete it unread.
I'm careful about posts from people I don't recognise.  I can read them
without actually opening them, in OE.

Ahhhhhh, I use OE also, and  plan next time to do the same thing...
I used to subscribe to alt.cats, but there are too many evil trolls there

Ahh another Fugazi special! The large warm hairball delivered outside
the bedroom door just as she could hear you getting out of bed so it
was just the right temperature and consistency for a Hoomin to stand
in. We used to say "She doesn't want you to get cold feet in the
mornings" or to be more exact that would be said by the Hoomin who
wasn't hopping to the bathroom to get some TP what the hopping Hoomin
was saying should not ever be repeated ever again! She used to stand
there and grin!

Fugazi 27.01.87- 17.04.99 and still much missed by her Hoomins even
after the above

Brilliant. I wanted to ask you guys for recipies for courgette/zucchini and
now I got the opportunity ... =)

I just love the way they are served in Greece, expecially in Crete -
batter-fried slices,  grilled, roasted in the oven or kolokithokeftedes
(fried zucchini patties)

for which I found one great version/recipy here:
http://www.explorecrete.com/cuisine/recipes-kolokithokeftedes.htm

But I would be intrested to learn some tasty recipies you might have?

Thanks

Sorta like quiche:

~750g grated zucchini
5 eggs
1 large onion, finely chopped
3 rashers bacon, chopped
1 cup grated cheese
1 cup self-raising flour
½ cup melted butter*
salt and pepper, to taste

METHOD

Preheat oven to 180°C.

Finely chop onion and bacon - fry for a few minutes till onions become
transluscent and bacon fat has gone clear.

Coarsley grate unpeeled zucchini with hand grater.

Beat eggs. Add eggs & butter to flour salt & pepper to make batter. Fold in
cheese, zucchini, onion & bacon. Pour into well-greased square slice tin (26
x 16 cm) or muffin pan. Bake in oven for 30-40 minutes or until it comes
clean when inserted with a skewer. Serve hot or cold.

*depending on the amount of bacon fat produced in the frying proces, you
could reduce butter. Or substitute oil or margerine.

I like topping mine with a layer of paprika.

I can't. I am *violently* allergric to eggplant. At least, though, that I'm
violently allergic to it about 3 hours after digestion, so I don't have to
offend someone if they've made it for dinner and there's nothing else on
offer (I do like the taste of it). I just make sure I'm home before the
reaction starts (and then spend an hour or so wishing I was dead).

I've hated eggplant since childhood...some Italian pals of mine always
serve it Parmesan with everything else on Xmas eve after we attended
their midnight services...I used to eat the sauce off it and slip the
eggplant to their dog under the table (he would eat anything offered)
for years...until he died of old age. You ladies have given me a great
idea! Whenever faced with eggplant in any form, from now on I am
violently allergic to it so please serve me something else, LOL.

Hejsan Lena. Long time no see.

I have some things I make with courgette. One is, I slice it lengthwise
(with a cheese slicer) and use it instead of lasagne sheets in a veggie
lasagna.

Another is to cut it in thick slices across (or on the diagonal, if you
want more 'showy' slices) and sprinkle some salt on them and let them
sit a while. When they have given off some moisture, dredge them in
besan (chickpea flour) with spices of your choice (I use salt, pepper
and chili powder) and then shallow-fry them in oil.

I also found this very simple but delicious recipe for a courgette soup
online (along with a gadzillion other courgette recipes):

Minted Courgette Soup

1 large onion
4 med courgettes
big nob of butter
dash of olive oil
handful of fresh mint leaves
chicken stock
salt & pepper to taste

In a heavy base pan, melt the butter with the oil until sizzles. fry
onions on medium heat until soft and translucent.

Roughly chop courgettes and add to onion, stir, place lid on and
sweat for 10 - 15 mins, or until courgettes start to breakdown.

Add chicken stock so it just covers the veg. add salt and pepper. and
simmer on low heat for a further 10 - 15 mins.

Move contents into a liquidiser and add the mint leaves (no stalks
pls). wizz until it reaches a smooth consitency and check seasoning
once more! (this recipe seems to need quite a bit of salt!)

Serve immediatley with a swirl of double cream if desired. However,
it does keep well for up to 48hrs, though add a little more mint just
before you reheat it!
