Bobcat - 01 Feb 2008 18:51 GMT
The other morning I climbed into the bathtub and Emily took her usual
post on the bathmat. It was chilly, so she sprawled on her side and
placed her paws on the radiator. I reached for the soap on the rim of
the tub and accidentally knocked the soap dish on the floor. At the
clatter, Emily sprang straight into the air from a lying position in
about .00001 seconds, and looked at me, startled. I imagine your cat
has the same incredible reflexes. By coincidence, that same day
someone
sent me this link to a web page where you can test your reflexes, and
it's no wonder that two of the categories you're put in depending on
your speed are "Turbo-charged Cheetah" and Bobbing Bobcat!
Appropriately I was put in the latter group. If you want to test your
reflexes against your cat(s), click here:

"Ambling armadillo" here. The kitties definitely have better reflexes!

RCat reflexes? ROFL. My overweight, huge brown tabby, Rowdous, is
blind in left eye and has rotten depth perception...unfortunately he
is
fond of drapiing himself on edge of bathtub when I am in it and has
slipped into a bubblebath more than once. I always have the bathroom
door closed firmly during baths so he can't tear off and wet
upholstrey
throughout the dwelling...luckily the litterbox is in the *other*
bathroom.

I was a Bobbing Bobcat too, but I tend to improve at these things with
practice.

I got to be a Rocketing Rabbit and will try it again in the morning to
see if time of day makes a difference.  Tonight, I was overcome by
laughter as I realized that, despite being more tired than I've almost
ever been, I was in a dark room shooting darts at animated sheep... over
and over and over again.

AHHHHHHHHH....

Susan, you almost sound slap happy in that post. I laughed when I read
it. I hope you got a good night's sleep and that your life calms down.
Maybe you needed some time alone in a dark room to shoot darts at
animated sheep. Sounds better than a rubber room with no darts and no
sheep. And from experience, I can tell you they don't let you have it
dark in there. LOL

Thanks Bridget - the baby was up for 3 hours lastnight.  It's a long
complicated story about needing to wean the baby though he won't take a
cup or a bottle and he has terrible constipation pains.

Still slap happy.

Not me! After several hundred attempts I am still a snail!

I managed to drag myself up from Ambling Armadillo to Bobbing Bobcat,
but I think that will remain my best.

Sheesh, and I thought I had good reflexes! I'm an Amblimg Armadillo, too.
It was suggested I drink some coffee. But I just drank a pot of tea!

Can I plead a slow computer? :)

Yeah, they're pushing coffee awfully hard on that site. Maybe some
affiliation we don't know about. ;) I'm a tea-drinker myself. As a
vegetarian, I must applaud that 'no sheep were harmed during the making
of the game.' :P

No, unless I can too. ;)

I just tried it again today with the sound on (yesterday I was doing with
my speakers shut off, which is their normal condition, so I won't startle
myself or the beasts with sudden loud noises). My scores are much better!
So clearly, the more senses are tuned into what's happening, the better
one's reflexes are.

LOL. That reminds me of that guy who posted on Ebay about the tin foil
hats, remember? And he made small sizes for pets, using his gorgeous
Himalayan cat to model it on. He even made one for a fly, which he also
modeled. (And which was either a Photoshopped picture, or a dead fly :)).

At the bottom of the page, there's a little note that says, "No animals
were permanently annoyed by this activity." Or something like that. I
definitely remember the "permanently annoyed".

Yeah, obviously, if he'd said just 'annoyed', we'd have known he was
lying. LOL!

I test MY reflexes against my cats' everytime I get in or
out the door, leaving the cats inside!  (They're fast, and
I'm not).  When I had the door open a crack to get rid of a
magazine vendor, last winter, I discovered a security chain
leaves enough room for a determined cat to slip through,
unseen. Witness the fact Melisande spent a cold night
outdoors because I didn't see her go, and she wouldn't come
when called!

Rocketing Rabbit, but I got sheep 5 (he twitched) at .0000 seconds. So I
imagine I'm more rightly a slug.

I know one thing about this game, I WILL NOT be a Sheppard in my next life.

Definitely a Bobcat here.

Molly demonstrated her finely tuned reflexes yesterday morning.

She was sitting at the sliding door waiting to go out.  When the door opened
she started her usual mad dash.  Only with no notable hesitation at all she
made a perfect circle about four feet in diameter ending up back inside the
house.  Guess she wanted to reconsider given the out was wet.

People around the world in dark rooms dart-gunning sheep, drinking
pots of tea and coffee, testing their reflexes against their cats?
What monstrosity have I unleashed on this group???!!!
