last evening I happened to notice my 7 month old cat has a tumor the
size of a golf ball on the side of his body. This is shocking because
I never noticed anything unusual before. Can't get appt. til 2morrow.
Any advice?

How do you know it's a tumor? It could be an abcess. I found something
similar on my cat last year, and it turned out to be an abcessed wound.
If it is a tumor, it can certainly wait one day for the vet exam. That's
true even for an abcess, although if he seems to have a fever you might
want to see if you can get him in on an emergency basis.
Good luck!

If there is no fever, pain or bleeding, tomorrow will be ok. There are
many relatively harmless things this could be, although there are some
very bad things it could be also. All may yet be very well.

Try not to worry too much until you see the doctor. It could be a cyst, or
some of the other less dangerous things others have mentioned. Even if it's
a tumor, it might be benign. However, the fact that it seemed to appear
quickly makes it much more likely that it is either a cyst or an abscess.
Cysts are usually harmless, and can be drained or removed if they cause
problems. An abscess can be treated.

The cat's so young and the lump appeared so suddenly that it's almost
certain to be an abscess... I'm sure the vet will be able to take care
of it for you tomorrow. Purrs for your pusscat to feel better!
