We have gold balls scattered all over our house...
Before anyone grabs a pick and declares "Dere's gold in them flats!"
they are rolled up gold foil from cigarette packets. Everytime we open
a new packet unless otherwise engaged (eating, on the box, sleeping,
washing etc) we will be watched by a Fabulous Furball usually Sarsi
with a hopeful look. Yes they love to chase rolled up balls of foil!
Considering how much we spend on toys it's probably their favourite.
Certainly Dunzi who does not much play wiht toys (unless they contain
DaNip of course!) thinks a rolled up foil ball is the best
Today I was in the living room and Dave noticed one of these balls on
the carpet and asked me to pick it up and bin it.
Sarsi was in full dead cat impersonation mode about 20 feet away and
Dunzi was in the bedroom
By the time I got my hand to it, Sarsi was up and waiting for a throw
and Dunzi came out of the bedroom so fast she skidded coming round the
corner

Of all God's creatures there is only one that cannot be made the slave of

improve man, but deteriorate the cat. - Mark Twain

Ah, the joy of the foil ball, Rhia's favourite too. She loves to play
football (soccer for those on t'other side of the pond) with them. A
particular favourite game for her is "Penalty Shoot-Out" where I flick
a foil ball at her and she does her goalie act and tries to save it.
She nearly always does too. She also likes to bat them under an
armchair; watching her trying to get them out again is great fun.
There's always a few under the chair and, as soon as she hears me move
it she'll come running to find them. Like you I've bought no end of cat
toys, but it's always the simple things that they like; her sister also
plays with the balls but her real favourite are toy mice with long
tails she can throw (usually at me). Neither of them are
catnip-sensitive, so nip-filled toys are a complete waste of time.
