He's beautiful!

Unfortunately, there are no direct URL's to the picture but if you go to
www.calgaryhumane.ca then click on the "Adopt" word on the LH side, it
will bring you to a sorting page.  Choose male cats and he is on the
bottom row second from the left.  Look at his beautiful eyes and
delicate face.

I'm going to go and see him.

He *really* is.  Such luminous expressive eyes.  I hope others are as
smitten as I am with him and he finds a home ASAP.

In other news, my brother and SIL adopted Sylvester from the shelter!
They get him on January 18th after his snip and, if it stresses their
sensitive girl-cat Melba too much, my SIL's dad has agreed to take
Sylvester.  Either way, fluffy Sylvester with the ridiculously puffy
tail, has a forever home!

I'm so glad you've managed to track him. I was worried when you said

Thanks Mike - how did you do that?  The URL in my Safari browser never

I'm not sure this will work on a computer but here is what works on
webtv:

Display the picture,  click "Go To", "Show Last", Command A, Command C
(to copy).  Then when posting "Command V".

Thanks Mike.  I don't know how to click "Go To" - what menu is that
under?  Are you on a Mac?  The Command C and command V seem like you
might be.  Don't know command A.

He looks a lot like Jools Mum's owner Oscar. For Xmas she got one of
those cat stroller things and on Wednesday she came down the pub with
Oscar in the stroller- the look he was giving her was along the lines
of "There had better be some catnip in this for me or you will pay!"

I do think he looks a lot like Mir, though his face is slightly rounder.
And maybe his ears are a bit too small - these Russian Blues have huge
bat ears. :) Just for comparison:

Now that's a cat who looks like she just beamed down from the
Mothership! There's something a bit alien about those big pointy ears
held at just that angle, and the solemn stare!

When I first got her, I used to call her Alien and Spacecat. She looked
so strange to me, who had only lived with moggies before. Then I
gradually got used to her looks, and now I'm completely besotted. ;)

She does have big ears.  But she is totally adorable.  Sonya has major
siamese or other oriental in her background.  She has the applehead
and eye shape and fine bone shape.  Mike's friend, Jason, calls her
mutant kitty.

What an adorable expression! He looks sort of nervous, but at the same
time, like he might really want to be petted.

Wow, I could spend a lot of time looking at pictures on that site.

My Betty looks like that (except black) - nervous but wanting to be
petted/skritched.... I haven't tried to pick her up in 3-4 months, and she
is letting me pet her more!  She hates getting picked up, so as she learns
that I *won't* pick her up, she lets me pet her more.  There are times when
she's "full up of luvvins" and darts away when I reach for her (sometimes
only when I look at her)....

He looks like my Shane! (Except my Shane has medium-long, very soft fur,
which is silver-tipped). Those same gold eyes. I call Shane my "money
kitty" because he's silver & gold :-)

Um....lucky? Some days, I'm sure of it....others (like today, when I had
to catch and escort a fat mousie back outside because Emma insisted on
only chasing it about my office) I'm not so sure. But yeah...lucky.

I have lots of pictures but don't really know how or where best to post
them. Would love some guidance on that. I can tell you more in words,
though...

Fearless Fosdick is our oldest, 16, white w/ tiger striped blotches.
Getting to be a creaky old man, with some "kitty parkinsons"
neurological issues. He's still the best mouser though. He insists,
every night, on climbing up on the bed and lying down on my arm. Whether
I'm still using it or not.

Princess looks like a purebred apple-head sealpoint siamese. She's not.
Her mom was pure black. She's 15, and an approach-avoidance kitty. ("Pet
me, scritch me, NO!")

Smokey, 14, is the last of the stowaways. Her mom, Spooky (RB), came
with a certificate of spay. Three weeks later she had 4 kittens. 1 was
stillborn. DH and DS insisted we keep the other three. Her sister &
brother already went to the Rainbow Bridge, too.

Jezebel, about 12, just showed up on the deck one day and said "I'm
home!" We said "who are YOU?" She said "Jezebel". And so it's been.
She's a gorgeous gorgeous dark tortie with gold eyes and Very Soft Fur.

Cinder was inherited from a roommate; she's a gray DLH with a white
chest and boots. Very pretty. Very neurotic. Mostly thanks to that old
roommate, unfortunately. She regularly pees in the registers. Do you
know how much fun it is to clean cat pee out of heating ducts?

Miss Bitty Kitty (who is not bitty any more) is a black and white
splotchy kitty (what ARE those called? There must be a name). She's
about 4 now and was a rescue cat we fell in love with. She's gotten
quite fat and she loves our D-thing and regularly sleeps with her.

Shane is our other boy-cat; he'll be 2 in May. He's medium hair,
beyoootiful gray with silver tips, very soft, gorgeous gold eyes. He was
a foster (with his sister, Emma) last June...when we picked them up we
were told they were 6 or 7 weeks old. They couldn't even digest kitty
food yet! They needed KMR for another 2 weeks. We were...indignant would
be too kind. No kitten should be taken from its mom that early.

Emma, Shane's sister, has the most unusual fur I've ever seen. From a
distance, she looks like a standard tuxedo girl. Get closer, and her
"black" is really "smokey". Pet her, and you'll see that the fur is
white near her skin and shades to black at the tips. And she has very
faint stripes on her rear flanks and her tail.

So where do I put their pictures?

just a thought, but maybe Mom was in no condition to nurse them any
longer. Spotty was a stray who showed up on my patio with 4 kittens.
When she was examined by TED I was advised not to let the kittens
nurse anymore, they were old enough to be weaned and she was too thin.
I'm glad I didn't have to deal with that, since Spotty agreed and had
them all weaned before they showed up.

Still, they should have warned you if that was the case.

Possible, I suppose. The rest of the story is that these kittens were
"gifts" to my son & daffodil (De Facto Daughter In Law, DFDIL) for their
then-2-year-old twins's birthday. From the drug-dealer downstairs neighbor.

A week after they got the kittens, my son called & said "this isn't
working, I'm tired of telling my girls "no" and the kittens don't seem
to be doing too well. Can you take them for a while?" We did. Shortly
thereafter various flavors of hell broke lose and we all decided it was
just better all around to keep the cats here as a forever home.

So I doubt very much the neighbor cared how old the kittens were; and
there wasn't really any "someone" to warn us, unfortunately. I'm just
glad we have so much experience with cats & kittens that we could
recognize the problem immediately and remediate it.
