mystery decoder ring: TED ?

I see the term "TED" a lot around here.  I've gathered that it means vet, but
what does it stand for?

The Evil Doctor. We're quite sure the cats think of vets as evil,
given the indignities they inflict on cats. :-)

Exactly. There is no dignity in having a cold glass rod stuck up a place where
the sun doesn't normally shine. My cats make their views on said offence
against their purrsons quite clear to TED in loud feline cursing...

Not to mention things like stealing blood, spraying weird stuff on
fur, sticking them with sharp objects, poking around in ears and
mouths.....
