I love the fact that Cara is fantastic around cats. I love the fact
that even fraidy Pandora is not afraid of Cara. I love the fact that
the cats are so comfortable with her, they get into bed and curl up
with her, and I love the fact that they treat her as a big cat and
greet her in the same way they greet each other with rubs and nose
kisses.
But it has now gone too far....
I may have mentioned previously, my neighbours cat, Basil, who is a
huge Maine Coon Niphead. He's very familiar and friendly with everyone
in the street and he thinks nothing of coming in through the cat flap
and stealing food or lounging in my garden. For a while, he has been
ignoring Cara and coming in through my cat flap, going upstairs and
stealing the dried food I leave out for my guys. I have a bit of a
problem with it, because HRFL sprays because of him, but figured Basil
would avoid the dog and the problem would be solved because he'd be
scared of Cara.
Not a bit of it. This morning, I found Basil (the neighbours pain in
the a$$ cat) curled up in bed with *MY* dog. The pair of them were
quite comfortable, thank you very much, and they didn't want to get
up.
D*mn fool dog! So much for guarding the house against unwanted
intruders!!

Might be time for one of those coded cat flaps! Good thing it is a Maine
Coon and not a RAcoon!

I threw my head back and laughed myself into a coughing fit at the image. ;)

My Scooter Dog was as much cat as yours is. Since she went to the bridge, I
now notice the cats all three run to the front door when anyone knocks. Go
figure!

Kayla doesn't understand the problem.
Maybe on rare occasion I can tell when someone she likes has come into the
house because she perks up her ears. Maybe.

Just because you and HRFL Tiger don't want Basil in, doesn't mean that
Cara doesn't. Or as Rob put it when I read this to him "Define
Unwanted."

<snort>.....um...sounds like Cara knows *exactly* who's the boss...
"Unwanted"....cat doesn't care.
"Intruder"?...nope....auxiliary owner...;) Sounds like Basil
feels he owns the street, so *he* certainly has no problem...:)
Wonder if she'd act the same way towards another
dog or person?
Now I need to go clean up yet another "beverage warning" victim...;)
