A friend of mine (Hugh the guy who took little (now not so little)
Bandit in) was supposed to be having his 50th birthday celebrations
tonight only he got the tummy bug that is doing the rounds...
And he's just heard that his 19-year old nephew is being investigated
for Hodgkin's disease or some other lympatic cancer...
We know what to do don't we?

Purrs on the way, of course. No fun with the stomach bug... me, I just had
a nasty sinus thing going on, and it wasn't my birthday.
Mega purrs for his nephew. But keep thinking positive thoughts. My 83 year
old father is a two time non-Hodgkin's lymphoma survivor.

One of our mutual friends survived Hodgkins lymphoma when he was 13
and treatments have got a lot better since then so he's trying to be
positive although when you haven't felt safe leaving the toilet for 24
hours (as Terry Pratchett put it through one of his character "I know
every knot hole on the privy door!") it's not that easy

Indeed. Purrs for Hugh's improved health and for his nephew's finding
to be non-cancerous.

The purrs worked! Apparently his nephew has some form of TB of the
lymph nodes which is not infectious (he's back at university) and will
respond to drug treatment
Alas Hugh still needs a lot of purrs, His mum has had heart disease
for most of the 15 years I have known him, She only survived one heart
attack because she had the good timing to be in the ambulance went she
went into cardiac arrest!
Her main carer is his sister who has fought (not too hard by all
accounts) a battle with drink. Most people I know like a drink but
we'd all say a bottle of scotch before an early lunch is more than a
bt much! Last year her dad spent serious money getting her into the
Priory but she got expelled from there
On Saturday, she flipped after two bottles in about as many hours, the
police got called, she threatened to kill herself so they took her to
the police station and as a precaution they took all her clothes off
of her and she had to wait 12 hours to be seen and taken to hospital.
So Hugh's mum is now on whatever form of care can be worked out
between the rest of him and his siblings and has said she doesn't want
her daughter back in the house
Hugh's at his wits end
I guess we purr some more

I'm sorry, but that is just bizarre. And very cruel. If they were afraid
she'd run away, she could have been put in a holding tank or something,
but to strip her naked and leave her that way for 12 hours?? That's awful.
Purrs that she is able to get help, and that she finds the strength to
use it!

They had to keep her in a cell whilst waiting for the duty doctor who
was busy elsewhere and she had threatened to kill herself so I guess
removing her clothes was so she didn't have anything to hand herslef

As I gather she has been in rehab and detox more times than Brittney/
Lindsay etc but she doesn't seem to want to stop, Last year as I said
her dad paid about fifty thousand pounds to get her into the the
Priory Clinic and they had to discharge her because she was telling
the therapists to F-off etc
