Buy a packet of ping-pong balls. Take out a couple and send them flying
around the flat. Sit back and watch kitties go wild.
Even Mir, who doesn't usually care that much for balls, is chasing them
in a frenzy.

They you have to collect them back from under the furniture and the
radiators.

If you have a bath tub try placing a cat in the empty tub and add ping
pong balls. Fun will probably ensue. Just speaking from experience here.

I tried that, with the same thought in mind. But my bunch weren't too
impressed.

I wish I had a bathtub. Not just for kitty play, but I would love a soak
now and then. Unfortunately, they are ebcoming very rare here.
Apparently they take too much space and baths waste too much energy. :(
As if the electric sauna wasn't worse in both respects.

Showers are "out" in new construction and remodeling here too. Our
bathrooms are being redone now and when I suggested the style of replace tub
I would like you would think I was from another planet! The big beautiful
showers do make sense in a lot of ways and that is what we went with. Will
miss my tub!

Yeah, I "resurrected" an assortment of toys that had been
hibernating in their toybox. Now I have to figure out how
to flush all those jingle balls and furry mice out from
under stove, refrigerator, and other low-to-the-ground
furniture! (If there's room for them to reach their entire
forelegs under a piece of furniture, they eventually
retrieve the toys for themselves, but there are some pieces
of furniture just too wide and low to the ground.)

Try using a yardstick. It will fit under almost anything.

If you practice you can get a lot of backspin on them by pressing down on
one side, they shoot accross the floor and then come back again. The look on
a cat's face can be priceless.

Thanks for the tip, Adrian! I'll have to practice.

Excellent toys. My guyz love 'em, too. They're right up there with those
icky little leather mice.

One Christmas years ago a friend gave Rusty a ping-pong ball. He used
to play with it. These days it is just sitting on the floor. Rusty
hasn't played with it for years. Guess old age is finally catching up
with him. All he does is sleep and eat. Even his old favourite, the
cat dancer, doesn't interest him anymore.
