I got a nice bottle of Stetson aftershave for Christmas. I tried a few
drops of it yesterday after my morning ritual. I sat down in the living
room and Mistletoe came up to my lap as is her custom for a morning snuggle.
She immediately noticed that Paw "didn't smell right". She looked
around and zeroed in on the source of the smell and sniffed at my face
for a more thorough analysis ... and SNEEZED! We're not talking a
gentle girlcat "choo" sneeze; This was a major league "from the toes"
sneeze, complete with icky effluence - right in my face.
It's OK, girl. I don't care that much for it either.

Well if the cat doesn't like it, it must be thrown away. ;o)

Sarsi did that when Dave was wearing Lynx Africa he got given for Xmas
one year alas my niece either buys an excellent present for the two of
us (as she did this year, cat photo holders) or a good one for me then
gets a bit flumoxed when it comes to Dave - he usually gets socks
I thanked her quietly as I thought it was terrible as well

I didn't get any socks this year, I might have to buy some ;o) My sister
gave me a very nice cordless laser mouse.

I always buy a pair of toe socks for Mandy every Christmas season.
For those who don't know what these are, they are socks with
individual "fingers" for each toe, like a foot glove. Mandy has agile
shapely toes and likes to tickle people with them. The girl is
dangerous from every apendage. Pine Cone loves to have her scritch
him with her toes. He is a strange little cat (ok, he weighs 15+ lbs
so not so little).
Pam S. who avoids Mandy when she has a certain look in her eyes.

I have NEVER been able to figure out why the people who
scarcely know someone think perfume and scented toiletries
are an appropriate gift! To me such things are so personal
that knowing a person's taste in such things should be a
MUST when considering them as gifts. (Especially since most
of them are far from inexpensive.)
When in doubt, much better a gift-certificate from Amazon -
more personal than cash (which some people find insulting
for some odd reason), but letting them choose what they'd
like. Why waste your money on something they might rather
be caught dead than use/wear?

I never give out personal grooming products of any kind. When I was
younger, it seemed like everyone was giving me this stuff and I felt
as though they were telling me that I wasn't well groomed enough, or
stank, or was lacking in something. Mandy and I got talking about
this and it turns out that she has the same reaction to personal
grooming products. Now, I did break this rule this Christmas by
giving all three of them electric razors. Rob asked for one, Mike
needed one, and Mandy cut her leg while shaving a whiile ago and I was
totally heart broken for her as razor cuts are so painful. I'm part
of the reason Rob needed a new razor. Perfumes and colognes,
forgedaboutit.
