I don't get it. Did the cat have incomplete arms before...?

That is an impressive set of claws!

It's a Sweeney Todd joke:

Watch this trailer to the end;

It's from "Sweeney Todd," now more known to the general movement from the
movie with Johnny Depp.  It's what Sweeney says when he opens his long-lost
case of barber tools, and tries out his razor again.

Ah ha. Not a fan of musicals, so I haven't see this movie (or any of the
stage productions). Also not a fan of "copious arterial spray", as a local
reviewer warned - even if it's only cartoonish and over-the-top.

I will never get my facts straight. I thought Sweeney Todd was a *dentist*,
LOL.

The wierd thing is, I'm not either. I don't like violent movies much,
but this is just different. Has been since I saw the stage play way too
many years ago. I have no idea why this story is so compelling really,
but it is.

I don't watch other violent stuff, either, but Tim Burton is just
something else. Can't help loving his films.

Marina, Miranda and Caliban. In loving memory of Frank and Nikki.

Didn't he make a movie a few years ago about a guy who told tall tales
his entire life? And his son resented it because he felt like he never
knew the truth of his father's life? Most of the movie is a flashback
from one (or maybe many) of his father's stories, about taking a long
walk and ending up in an alternate world which had a small town from
an earlier time period, or something.

Then there was something about a witch with a glass eye, and if you
looked into her eye, you would see your own (future) death. The main
character looked into the witch's eye, and saw himself dying peacefully
in his bed at an old age. This had a wonderful effect on him, because,
knowing he wouldn't die until he was very old, he did all sorts of crazy
and dangerous things throughout his life. He took wild risks and became
wealthy and had fabulous experiences.

Does anyone remember the name of this movie? It was from maybe 3 or 4
years ago. (Yeah, I could look it up on IMDb, and maybe I will. But I
thought someone here might have also seen it and liked it, and that it
might start a discussion.)

Thanks! I never would have remembered that name. The title of that movie
did not stay with me at all, but many of the scenes from it did.

Man, I saw it again yesterday and was just as drawn in. I'll have to
see it again before it leaves the theater because, well, it's so
stunningly elegant (I know, wierd thing to say with the subject matter,
but this is truly the most artistic film I've ever seen.) I guess, for
me, it is such a deeply emotional story that the violence is acceptable
(besides, if you are squimish you can see all the "deaths" coming from
a mile away and close your eyes). The blood is even well, just like a
painting and not that real. Personally, anyone who can watch CSI can
watch this. I think it is the "musical" part people aren't prepared
for, but still, I've seen a LOT of people who "don't like musicals"
that loved it.

My sister saw it tonight down in Texas. She called me and we talked for
over an hour about it!

Sweeney Todd Kitteh!!!

I always sing to Stinky:

"Attend the tail of Stinky Todd
He has a black and white fuzzy bod,
He sniffs the faces of gentlemen
Who never thereafter were heard of again."
