They both do look a bit worried still, but I'm sure they'll come around
soon.

First of all, I found it amusing that you thought a couple of cards
would 'protect' the top of the
television! LOL Or was that your intention, a joke? Silly tv.
Meanwhile...spend a lot of quiet time down there with them. Just sit
and watch tv, or read a book (even better). BE there with them, just
not pursuing and looking at them. They need to see you as a non-
threatening person, and eventually they'll come around just fine.
They're beautiful boys. You have a lot of love in there. Enjoy!

They look so sweet. Still looking wary, too, but I like they way they
huddled together for support. And in the last photo, it looked like Lyle
had started to relax a bit, and closed his eyes. (Or was that just to
avoid the flash?) (Oh, and that is Lyle, right?)

Still very wary. Lyle did not go back up on the workbench again. They
are both on the shelf underneath "hiding". Lyle has white on the top of
his nose and Frank has those dark markings.

No, I meant it keeps the cat(s) from walking on the top of the TV and
instead they use the "catwalk" just behind it. In time I expect they
would just use the catwalk by choice. Worked with Zak. Of course I seem
to have bigger worries at the moment.

I spent a little time in their room with them. Some of that was me
moving around (I was filing papers) and some was sitting reading. I also
put some wet food out but they are not inclined yet to come out of hiding
even though they are about two feet away and they are in plain sight.
Someone used the litter box again but I am not sure who. The first time
I saw through a hole in the door it was Lyle. Someone ate food last
night. If I was sure they were both eating and drinking my worry would
be less. I have a camera but it is in my office and I wont be back there
until Wednesday. I also think about the fact that the shelter is run by
all women and I may be the first male human these guys have had close
contact with. My (grown) niece who lives upstairs is dying to see them
so maybe I will let her check on them tomorrow; maybe a womans face will
make them feel better. Would not blame them :).

Thanks, I think so too; just hope they can open up.

They are stunning cats! Wow.
Did I miss part of the story about why they lived most of their lives in
cages? It must be quite an adjustment for them for sure and that it
will take some time. Their curious nature will, I'm sure win over
though ...

They were just never adopted apparently. How such pretty and sweet cats
could be overlooked I don't know.

They are so handsome. I bet they will be as loving as they are cute. You
are being a good Kitty Dad.

I hope they do but even if they just were calm and not nervous I would be
happy.

I think you are right.
I am keeping my distance when I snap them because they are still very
frightened by my presence. I am still worried at this point. I am
keeping in mind they have only been here a bit over 48 hours but I still
don't know if Frank has eaten, drank or used the litter box. They are too
frightened when they see me and when they are in their own room, with the
door closed, I can't tell who is using the facilities.
I know Lyle eats and uses the litter box as I caught him early on; not
sure how much he drinks but he is eating wet food. After they ran around
the house this morning Lyle ended up back in their room on the now famous
shelf and poor Frank got "stranded" in the living room.
I had to carry him back to their room many hours later. He was not
going to go on his own even though I was out of the house a few times and
behind my bedroom door other times. They have to pass my room through
the narrow hall to get to their room where they are still frightened but
maybe less so (at least the litter box and food are there). Soon after
I heard litter box sound so maybe it was him (Frank). I will have a spy
camera Wednesday night but that is a long way off any maybe they will be
ok by then. Maybe not.
In fear level they are like ferals but if I really have to I can approach
them or even pick them up without them fighting.

Andy it is too soon
You can kick start their appetite by taking some baby food; nothing with
onions, and wipe it on their mouth at least you know they are getting
something ;-)
If it was feral scared level you would not be able to pick them up with out
war wounds requiring hospital stays
Be patient it will take time. I know it is hard to realize but take the
advice that we give others none of us would lead you astray

Think of it from their point of view- they've been stuck in a shelter
cage for ages and now someone they don't know has taken them and put
them in a much bigger environment and there are loads of new smells
and places to make sure are safe for them. I guess the Fabulous
Furballs were a bit the same when we got them- they'd lived in a small
shed so indoors was big and mysterious to them but as they were only
kittens which tend to be more adaptable and it took them a week or so
to get used to it
As someone here said if they were at feral level who wouldn't be able
to pick one up without needing a swift visit to the emergency room to
have your skin sewn back on!
Be patient they're both beautiful and worth it- you have many years
together (Bast willing) so a few more days at this end won't make a
difference

I am certainly over worrying. I do understand that but it is something I
do so well. After loosing Zak and needing to really worry about food and
water intake I am overly concerned about it. These are healty cats and I
don't think I need to worry as much. They looked real comfy today. I
think they are progressing. I even got two snaps of them.
Thanks

Sound good. Will give that a try. It's only Frank I worry about since I
caught Lyle eating.

They went back up to the shelf early this morning. Cats LOVE that shelf!
I made it for Zak and it was his ultimate escape for true emergencies
such as when the vacuum was running.
While they were up there I wathced DVDs (for hours!). They saw me doing
something while ignoring them. It may have helped.

Patience is a virtue a good quote to remember when you are dealing with
woman and cats ;-)
