I have 2 scaredy cats here!  I should have let them out in their room but I
let them out in the living room so that is where they are hiding.  I hope
they find their own room; it is more private and I can put the litter box
with them.  Otherwise they seem fine; scared but very curious!

Fantastic!

It's perfectly normal for them to be scared at first, and I suspect
they'll find their room soon enough. Especially if there is a food dish or
litter box in there, or maybe some catnip. What a handsome pair of kitties!

They'll be out in no time. Do quiet things with the TV on low.

They look a bit worried, I hope they settle in very soon and become loving
companions.

Ok, so here is a final update for day 1.

first:  Yesterday I was thinking how much these guys seemed to enjoy the
cat tree (cats grow on trees?!) at the shelter and I determined there was
a great spot here for one so I ordered this:

https://www.spoilmykitty.com/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=13

Also, before they arrived (an hour late) today I bought some toys, more
food dishes (I wanted small low dishes for wet food), catnip spray (we'll
see) and fish food for the office tank.

now for the update:

They are plenty frightened at their new suroundings.  My living room is
larger than the entire world they used to know and that is when they were
OUT of their cage.  Even as frightened as they are they are so gentle I
had little problem picking each one of them up and carrying them to their
own room where I set a low lamp and closed the door.  They have food, a
drinkwell, a litter box, their bed from the original cage and a few toys.
All I can do now is give them time.  They have lived in a cage for most
of their lives but their demeanor gives me hope they will adjust to the
larger world I have for them.  They can hide where they are now so I
can't hardley see them so pictures will only come as they leave their
hidey hole.  I have never seen cats who are frightened be so gentle; it
is really amazing.

Thanks for all the concats, and good wishes!

more later

In a few days they will be braver, in a week you will wonder why you
worried.  In two weeks you need to watch out ;-)

Purrs coming your way so that the brothers get their mojo back in short
order and start running the place like they ought to!  Looking forward
to update #2!

I think you're on the right track, Andy--giving them a room of their
own, something familiar and all their needs accomodated and some
privacy to get used to their new surroundings. Being together will be
a comfort to them, right now.  As you point out, it's a big change of
scenery for them. I think if you sit in their room quietly, preferably
on the floor, they'll come out and say hello and investigate you when
they get curious enough. It will be a good moment for bonding with
them.

Concatulations on your new owners!

They're beautiful! And I'm not surprised that they're skittish - after
all, they're in a new place. I'm sure they'll come out when they feel
safer, or at the very least, when they get hungry.

Congrats on a gorgeous pair of owners.

Aww. They'll soon settle down. Oh, another Frank. Will have to get used
to that!

Thanks,  they finally broke something this morning.  I expected they
would knock over a table lamp sooner or later but, instead, they put the
digital clock I built 37 years ago (!!) on the floor.  It's broke.  I can
fix it with a little work.  It's a great clock and carries sentimental
value (I was 16 at the time).  I recently rerouted the power cord which
if I had not done that would have prevented it from falling off the desk.
I still think they are pretty cute, though.

Andy
