I enjoyed the game but the sleeping dude and the roaches is lots more
exciting.

Count me as another who can't keep the kitty in.

Try not to place the circles near the center too soon.  You should be
spending the first few turns spacing them out around the edges, which
later forms opportunities to create terraces and walls that will trap
the kitty.  This may be counter-intuitive to someone who's played,
say, chess, which emphasizes central control, but should make a lot of
sense to someone who's played Go, which emphasizes edge and corner
control.

Excellent!

I sent this link to a friend of mine, and at first she said it was
"dastardly". I told her my one and only insight about the game, which
is that if you get into that thing where the cat is one step behind
you diagonally, and every time you hit the next dot, the kitty jumps
to the one right behind you, *it's going to win*. Foregone conclusion.

She wrote back and said, "That was very helpful, I have now won twice.
But when I won, I then felt bad about boxing the kitty in."

LOL!

What a cute game!  I just tried it out, and it looks like the kitty
heads for the nearest open spot, so you can make it waste a lot of
tempos heading down one path, cut it off at the last minute, and have
it waste the same number of turns getting back, and in the meantime,
you've boxed it in. :)

Takayuki, if anyone in this group will have figured out a strategy
to win this game, it would be you! :)

(I've succeeded in boxing in the kitty twice, out of about 30 tries.)

I tried it yesterday.  And a pox upon zaax ;-)  I could not keep the
little bugger in no matter what I did.  I'll keep trying.  Of course.  lol!

I think I'd find it easier to trap the Fabulous Furballs (and that is
no mean task!)

Like Bubbels so many years ago (I cna't still believe I play that game
almost every day) can someone tell me where the flash file is hiding on my
PC so I can save it and play it at work? Or can someone send me the file?

TIA

Thanks Tak. They surely belong in the 'favourite games' section!

Can it be downloaded from there?

Yup. Tak has also kindly put the intructions for downloading and playing the
games as a text file youcan read on the site.

I have added Planarity, too, as I was addicted to that game for a long time,
too. I got to level 35 or so, before I couldn't fit all the dots on my
screen.

FINALLY!!!! After what seems like a million games, I finally managed to trap
the begger - although it helps if the green dots at the start of the game
are in a good configuration.

A very good, addictive game. Wouldn't rate it as good as Bubbels, but
amusing none the less.

Anyone got any other flash gmaes of infuriation they wish to share?

It's addictive and very adreno-genic. I don't know why. But I'll bet
I'm not playing that in 5 years. I still play Bubbels because I find it
relaxing. Sure, sometimes it's very frustrating. But often, I get into
a Bubbel Zone and totally space out. I've even been known to nearly fall
asleep while playing it.

Also, Bubbels is about the *colors*. I totally get into which color combo
I'll end up with toward the end. I hate ending up with an ugly combination
(eg, pink and orange), whereas I can happily spend 20 minutes in three-
color hell, if those colors are, say, orange and the two blues. ("Three-color
hell": when there are three colors left on the screen for what seems like
hours.)

With Chat Noir, I kind of feel like my friend did. It drove her nuts that
she couldn't trap the cat. Then when she finally did, she felt bad about
trapping the poor kitty. I think the game should allow a way for players
to give the cat a little treat when they win. :)

A clever programmer could take the basic mode of 'chat noir' and call it
'take kitty to the vet', because *surely* thats exactly what its like,
trying trick a wiley kitty into going the palce that you want it to go! And
yes, the 'win' screen should surely be giving hte kitty some food or getting
an 'all clear' at the vet's.
