As usual when I get home I have three or four of the neighbors cats
waiting for me. Except for Britches they all have homes, but since I
put out food and take a little time to visit they're glad to see me.

I won't go into how good their homes are, but according to the
thermometer at tank it was 25 degrees.

Anyway, before I come inside I take time to visit with them and put
out some food. While I'm doing that I always have an audience, my
girls sit in the windows and meow to let me know they're STARVING. Of
course as soon as I come inside I feed the poor starving girls. The
adults all eat in the kitchen, and Furby get her kitten food by
herself in the bathroom so the others don't steal it all.

Sammy usually eats just stop her stomach from growling, then hurries
back to watch the outside cats eat. Since she can't see all the bowls
from one window, she runs back and forth looking out to see who came
to dinner.

Anyway, tonight while Sammy was running from the bedroom window to the
patio door, Furby was sitting in the bedroom doorway waiting to get
her dinner delivered to the bathroom. Each time Sammy ran through the
door she'd hiss at Furby, and Furby just sat there patiently waiting
for her food to come out of the microwave, totally ignoring the
hisses.

I thought it was so funny that the little kitten who used to run and
hide whenever one of the older cats hissed is now totally ignoring her
elders.

That's really funny: while Sammy is inside and warm, and has plenty of
food, she's more interested in watching the 'outside' kitties, and what
and how much food they get!

I suppose she's being a little territorial. But I'd sure LOL watching
her, too.

Thank you for seeing that all the cats in your area, even those who have
homes, and whose owners have them on strict diets, get enough to eat :-)

But seriously, one person like you, feeding a few strays, as I know you
do, can be the difference between life and death, for some cats who may
not be good hunters. For many strays, in many parts of the world, the
only reliable food they get, the food that keeps them alive during a
harsh winter, may come from a kind hearted person like you.

It is a sad fact that there just aren't enough good people like you (and
all of the other fine people  who are here on RPCA) to go around, in the
world.

There is no shortage of truly bad people, unfortunately.

And why do so many of them wind up in our governments, "representing"
us, and passing tax cuts for the wealthy, and laws that do more harm
than good?

Sorry, started off on a tangent...

That is funny!

LOL!  Every time I make some observation about my girls when
at dinner, one of my companions replies "Just like
children!"  (It's usually true, too - and the example above
seems particularly apt!)

Aww, she's really gained a lot of confidence. Funny, yes, but also
heart-warming. You done good, Steve.
